Facts About ASUU Strike You Don't Know. In this blog post, I will show you some facts about ASUU strike you don't know. These facts will give you an inside about the incessant ASUU strikes in Nigeria.

The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has been on consecutive strikes since the return to civil rule in 1999. This has become endemic in the educational sector of the country.

ASUU embarked on strike on February 14, 2022, hoping that the Federal Government will rectify the issues associated with the university system. But to date, there has not been a reasonable agreement between the negotiating parties.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government recently said it has accepted UTAS as the preferred payment platform for university lecturers and has agreed to release the sum of fifty billion naira (N50b) for earned allowance.

Reacting to the statement by the Federal Government, ASUU responded with an indefinite strike on Monday 29 August 2022. Stating that there is no tangible agreement between the union and the Federal Government.

It is important that every concerned Nigerian understand the truth about the lingering strike.

Community service

A lecturer's job is to teach students under their supervision. In addition, carry out research to find out new trends in the ever-changing society as well as carry out community service.

The promotion of lecturers is based on the number of publications in reputable journals as well as seminar papers and attending conferences to learn new patterns of teaching.

Meanwhile, the Publishing cost is over four hundred and fifty thousand naira N450, 000, and the cost of attending conferences is overwhelming.
