Never again will evil rule over good.
Thank you.

You are right that this is just another pathetic lie and propaganda from the A-looter Propaganda Congress, APC.
Can you imagine what Buhari's spokesman said five years ago- fuel import to stop by 2019 i.e. three years ago. Now another useless lie from Meles Kyari. shocked

The only way we can stop importing fuel is simple.

REMOVE SUBSIDY

(But we will pay N1000 for one liter of fuel)

REMOVE SUBSIDY

(But it means the government would loot the money

REMOVE SUBSIDY (and by the way,how do you trust the same government who would loot the money to run subsidy?)

(But the poor...)

REMOVE SUBSIDY.

Because, if you want to have domestic refining....you have to make it so that Chief Romanus Moneyed can refine fuel, and sell it at a profit that would enable him pay competitive salaries, pay maintenance costs, pay for upgrades, pay for new refineries, pay for more jobs, and pay for his marriage to a seventh wife, and the third mistress (okay, the fifth...).

(But Buhari nigbati, nigbati, etc etc....)

Yeah, you said that when GEJ tried...when Obasanjo tried..etc etc....and here we are with a balooning deficit.

We started the subsidy when we had domestic refining...and in fifty years of subsides, we have gone from 4 working NNPC refineries, to zero working refineries....and people think subsidy is working.

Maybe you should sell the thing you bought at N10000 a piece at N2000, and accept a subsidy of N50, and bless the government...while your business runs aground (What; you no like? But I thought that sauce for goose...)

1.We have at least 5 other refineries...coming up. Not owned by Dangote...

2.Plus, since no subsidy by then , that means it would be profitable to refine at home...which means you would soon be collecting a licence to refine crude, and earning profits that would enable you to build a 50 bedroom castle in your village, and one in Lagos, and one in London for your summer vacations....

Yeah, you want him to sell it at Atiku's N90 or Buhari's N40, EH?

The kind loss that he would incurr, his refinery would break down before it reaches 2 years after opening.

Venezuela once had a refinery that could do 900000 barrels a day. It is down to less than 100000 barrels a day because they sell fuel at N40 per liter there. No profit...no money for maintenance, no money to keep good staff, no money to pay for upgrades, deterioration results.

But when they suggest we should remove subsidy, whichever government....you people say NO.

So, the subsidy continues, and the corruption continues.

We could have cut off the subsidy and with it the looting if we had removed it since.

But eveyrtime...you guys say NO. You make the looters happy...because you want to buy N40 fuel .

So what do you expect? Leave a 50kg sack of sugar outside, opened...and don't complain when ants of all sizes and species gather round to partake (Ant 1 to ant 2...I didn't know that those two legged giants were so generous....)

Re: Mele Kyari: Nigeria Will Stop Importing Petroleum Products By Mid-2023 by grandstar(m): 2:57pm On Aug 30, 2022
It would be an epic mistake for the country to ban imports of refined petroleum products.

The price of these refined products can be very volatile and subject to price changes that have no bearing to the cost of inputs

Let me give you an example, the price of oil in 2008 hit around $140. By 2009, it had hit $35. Now, imagine if Otedola of Zenon bought products when it was high and it landed after the price had collapsed? He would be forced to sell at a loss.

What's coincidental was that Otedola basically became bankrupt when he could no longer service his huge debt to banks. I am sure it was for this reason his company Zenon went under.

Now, if the government decides to ban the importation of refined products, the local producers would be in no hurry to reduce their price locally as they would be shielded from competition.

Local producers would only reduce their prices when they've disposed products they purchased at a high price.

This won't be the first time Nigerians have suffered the pain of protectionism. The ban on cement importation has led to Nigerians paying a premium for the product compared to other parts of the world. Cement manufactures are making a killing, at times declaring net profit margins of more than 50% of revenue. This is just insane

Until then it's all story. I am disappointed in the Dangote oil refinery project. It has been postponed more than 4 times. Why can't they just stop lieing and once it is done then they should tell us not stories all the time. It was to start operation in Q3, 2022
