Comrade Usman Umar Barambu, a student of Federal University Dutse, has been elected the new president of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), GRASSROOT REPORTERS reports. Barambu scored a total of 292 votes to defeat other contestants. Umar Faruk Lawal came second with 8 votes. GRASSROOT REPORTERS correspondent reported that shortly after the elections, a faction declared Lawal the winner despite scoring 8 votes. An indigene of Gombe State, Barambu becomes the first NANS President from the Northeast region. Other candidates who contested the presidential election were Gambo Mohammed, Usman Kankia.
