Erling Haaland has had a terrific start to the Premier League season. He has scored 10 goals and provided an assist in seven matches played so far.

Before deciding to go to Man City, Haaland had offers from most of Europe. Real Madrid were one of the teams most interested in the attacker, but finally, Guardiola's team got ahead of him.

In an interview broadcast in the documentary 'Haaland: the choice' for 'Viaplay', a journalist asked how he could say no to a team like Real Madrid. "Good question... You can't do it really," he said smiling.

His father, Alf-Inge Haaland, went into detail on the reasons which led him to going to Man City and not Real Madrid. "We had something in mind, who needs a number 9? Man City 1'0 out of 10, it's the perfect option, whereas Real Madrid is a five or a 6 because of how Benzema is playing now. And, Mbappe was also going to be there...," he explained.

In short, Benzema's terrific form as well as the possible signing of Mbappe, who finally decided to stay at PSG, scared off Haaland. City applaud the decision of their main man in attack.
