ASUU have fallen into the 'trap' set by the FG...

The present FG however does not care about Tertiary Education in Nigeria & it has since stopped pretending to give a damn. Its strategy is that the Nigerian populace would be the ones to put pressure on ASUU.

We keep castigating our Public Tertiary Institutions & yet, when lecturers, through the Union, try to correct the downward spiral, rather than hold the government responsible, we insult the lecturers...

Well, it is good that state universities are pulling out, so consequently as a first step & since state governments have said they have no business with ASUU's demands since it is a federal issue, the funding of State universities through TETFund should stop.

Most states just establish universities with the mindset that the FG, through TETFund would fund the capital intensive infrastructure.

If the money given to state institutions is redirected to the federal universities, the impact would be greater felt.

So, the push for now is that let TETFund stop funding state Tertiary institutions and let the funds be redirected to solve some of the federal institution's challenges...

It is the same market they all go.

So what would ASUU claim as motivation?

Those state universities are not ASUU members and or their lecturers are well paid. For example, in Rivers State University, a Professor is receiving almost 1m a month. So they don't have any business with ASUU strike.

Since the government is bad must ASUU place the brunt on the students? Does two wrongs make a right where you come from? They can go to court, organize mass rallies & protests but not blatantly closing school gates. I bet you don't have child in school hence the selfish mindset! For awhile now that school gates are closed, have you been less moronic to notice that the once good boys in school are now dabbling with online fraud due to boredom (idle minds are the devil's playground).

Most Nigerians stand for nothing and that is why they fall for everything. ASUU is now selfish for standing firm this time to correct a long existing errors. As a student many years ago , we lost 1 full academic session to FG / ASUU face off. ASUU was later sabotaged and blackmailed into giving in to FG antics, they called off. Many years down the line , same problems and it will continue if not completely sorted out this time.

For you senseless , myopic complainants here , how many of you have protested the white elephant project of Nigeria to Niger republic railroad Donation of many expensive vehicles to Niger republic??

Those of supporting the FG should continue.

State universities are working right? Continue.
You are calling ASUU wicked right? Continue.

This word solidarity is in the dictionary for a reason. No man stands alone. No one. I won't say beyond this.

For years University of Ilorin stood alone and was running a system they felt was good. When they needed support, who came to their aid? cheesy

You don't need to rubbish your colleagues' efforts in the mud. Stand beside them.

What most people don't understand is that the intervention fund and everything ASUU is fighting for still gets to all the universities regardless if they joined the strike or not.

We are not ready though as a nation. When we are, we will know.

The students complaining ASUU is fighting for their pockets alone are all funny. This same set of people will be moaning about the infrastructural deficit of the Nigerian university. They will complain about harsh lecturing conditions, they will complain that they can't compete with counter parts abroad, they will complain about the whole system. Yet they are so dumb to even cross examine the demands of ASUU to understand if in the long run it's to their favour.

How can you justify myriads of graduates who are chunned out and can't even express themselves in interview confidently. One was asked his next if kin and she mentioned her dean of her faculty in school then who isn't related to her by blood even extended wise sef but graduated with a 2:1 in political science.

My opinion: It is apparent that Nigerians love suffering. I don't blame politicians who milk the nations wealth to their advantage, dispense injustice to the people and even create harsh conditions for people to thrive. I can never join any protest or lead one because those you are fighting for will turn their back against you soonest. For me it's all man to himself.

So you expect an employer to pay is staff wages of work not done.

I will never support ASUU because they are selfish......the HOD in my department ban lecturers from selling manual or text book to us and they fought him tooth and nails.....that man almost lost his job due to set up.

If you don't buy this manual or text book CO dan sure......so what are we talking about....bunch of thieves.

Demanding fg should pay them outstanding salaries while they were on strike is very ridiculous.

This APC Federal government thinks been fascist and too autocratic is the best way to become democratic in decisions. All those saying a union of intellectuals that include lower grade lecturers, doctors and professors are been selfish are just been myopic in their thinking. Those saying it are used to the culture of suffering and smiling which is not expected. If one person in government can afford N100m presidential nomination form, then ASUU demand should not be difficult but negotiable.

Since 2009, ASUU members for example as lecturer II collect about 200k per month is still collecting the same amount as lecturer II. HOW MUCH WAS EXCHANGE RATE IN 2009?

Any agreements reached with FG will be demanded by State University. So state universities will commence their own strike where necessary if the respective state government owners are not willing to treat them at par with Federal Universities. The evils day is being postponed

You don't understand what the guy means, ASUU is just fighting for their personal pocket, are the members of ASUU not the same corrupt lecturers who forcefully collect bribe from students and forcefully sleep with their female students?

It is the same people who walk around campus behaving like demi gods oppressing students here and there. I remember a lecturer back then in School telling us that our future is in his hands, can you imagine?

FG is bad, everybody knows that, but ASUU is no better, FG oppress ASUU, ASUU oppress students. They can both f*uck off.

They should call off the strike jare, if FG meets their demands they'll just share the money among themselves, you won't see any notable change in Nigeria Universities.

They say ASUU is fighting for the students, but I am saying that ASUU is selfish and fighting for their stomach. I supported them initially when they embarked on this strike, but when I see the wickedness exuded by them even after FG have met with some of their demands, but they still won't back off, so that students who are the ones facing the heat of it can return to school, I want to say God punish ASUU .

This usêlèss union should be scrape out totally, we have other unions, but non do like ASUU. ASUU is a union used by students village people to punished them to be in school forever.
The federal government has not met with nada. They’re lying to you. They’re pandering to the public.
Prof Osadeke said on channels TV some time ago that ASUU has never actually met physically with any minister or government representative. All communications so far has been through intermediaries and press releases. There is no atom of seriousness or commitment from government towards ending the strike. They are perfectly okay with the strike lasting forever as long as they can manage to put adequate blame on ASUU while withholding their owed salaries at the same time.
And I also blame ASUU for thinking that this gang of rouges would be remotely concerned with ending the strike with just months left in office.

Agreements they've been signing with ASUU, how many have they implemented?

They just manage to implement that pertaining to their salaries n abandon anything relating to improving the standard and quality of the universities.

Now AUU is saying fulfill the agreement we entered into in 2013 as regards upgrading the universities and they have turned it to a circus, with all kinds of riders.

If we turn against ASUU t will spell doom for our universities.

Pls my fellow Nigerians, look at the agreement before u condemned ASUU.

They spend billions and trillions in a non existing school feeding program but cannot spend on our universities.
