Justice Osiagor sentenced Yetunde to five years imprisonment but gave her an option of N100,000 fine.

Nigeria's justice is weak. 5 years is not enough

NASS needs to revamp the law. Cannabis sativa is rapidly become legal in many countries around the world. No need for a person to rot in prison for 5 years for a plant that doesn't destroy the body like hard drugs and alcohol. sad

Maybe it's because she's a lawyer, so she's being punished for breaking the same law that she studied.

Lawyers are expected to know better than this.. she took an oath to protect the country's laws, instead of breaking them.

The penalty for drug trafficking in Nigeria is 6 month imprisonment so where is this 5 years coming from

She's fortunate. She dodged a bullet.

Though the recreational use of cannabis is bad, it's not up there with cocaine, heroin and meth.

Why was the judge so lenient? undecided undecided undecided

With this on her record, would she be able to practice law? Also, are Beninoise issued law degrees acceptable here? Has she passed the bar? These are questions I'm dying to know

The judge who handled this case is a person of compassion and wisdom, for allowing the weed-loving lawyer to EITHER spend five years in jail OR pay a 100,000 naira fine.

Perhaps you could volunteer to spend ten years in jail on the behalf of this very lucky lawyer, since you love jail so much.

It is fake. Read well - she was actually sentenced to just 100k fine

i know her she is a clearing and forwarding agent, based at the airport cargo export chapter, i dont know maybe she is part time lawyer ooo,our work as a clearing agent is getting more risky this days, dispatched riders do bring cargo from client some time uber bring cargo as well, we can't tell them to wait for NDLEA to be check before they leave most agents are innocents.
Thanks for bringing more clarity to this.

Second, she may have read law in the Uni in Benin Republic which is Nigeria's next door neighbor, but if she hasn't proceeded to any of the
Law Schools in Nigeria, then she is
NOT yet qualified to be called a lawyer!

I doubt if this 26-year-old went to Law School since she is into freight forwarding and still got involved in this crime!
