mysticwarrior: That's because the same oil producing country won't let the industry refine crude into fuel and sell it at a profit. To use an analogy, imagine you were selling bananas. You buy them at N5000 a bunch and plan to sell them at N7000 a bunch, but then government tells you to sell them at N500 a bunch to help the poor. Because you cannot afford to replenish stock and pay for other costs at that price, you stop selling bananas, scarcity results. By rights, according to the petrol industry, we should be selling fuel at N400 and above. Instead we sell it at N174. Naturally, there would be crisis and issues, because there isn't enough profit being made to pay everyone involved in bringing fuel to you. And the difference between the N400 and N174 is paid as subsidy, which because of rising costs and suchlike....isn't enough most of the time. |

Fake news, they just want to create artificial demands to sell their fuel. Since two months now light has been steady, so less people are buying fuel from the stations so their profits has dropped tremendously. That claim of Nigerians consume 60 million liters of fuel a day na big scam to collect subsidy payments. If there is steady light, the quantity of fuel sold in a day will not be up to half of the 60 million liters they are claiming. The fueling station in my area has been idle for a month now with only random cars coming to buy fuel . People buying with cans have reduced so with black marketers. |
