Theres a reason why succesive Governments have not allowed Nigerian history to be taught in schools, they dont want people to know the truth so that lies can be propagated. Im here to burst 3 lies that have being continually told against Zik, Aguiyi-Ironsi, Ojukwu, and by extension, the Igbo nation of which I belong to, so that people dont believe lies That Zik was responsible for secession clause not getting into the constitution: I have read about this lie so many times its just laughable. Its important to note that when in 1958 Nigerian political leaders gathered in Lancaster House London to discuss what the Nigerian constitution would be, in preparation for independence in 1960, Zik was just one delegate. Others who attended the Lancaster House Conference include delegation that was led by Abubakar Tafawa Balewa of the Northern People's Congress (NPC), and party leaders Obafemi Awolowo of the Action Group, Eyo Ita of the NIP (National Independence Party) and Ahmadu Bello of the NPC – as well as the premiers of the Western, Eastern, and Northern regions. The Chiefs of the Northern Region, Sir Muhammadu Sanusi, Emir of Kano and Alhaji Usman Nagogo, Emir of Katsina' Chiefs of the Western Region, Sir Adesoji Aderemi and Oba Aladesanmi; and Chiefs of the Eastern Region HRH Eze Johnson Osuji Njemanze MBE CON, Paramount Ruler of Owerri, Chief Nyong Essien of Uyo and Chief S. E. Onukogu Yet people want us to believe that Zik decided for all these people what should be, or not be, in the Nigerian constitution? Thats not possible. Zik may have been against secession clause, but he had no power to decide if it should be put in the constitution or not as he had only one vote That Ironsi removed federal Regional system and introduced unitary rule: What a lot of people don't know is that Ironsi did not tamper with the 4 Regions he met when he came to power. His only budget of January 1966 reflected resource control and the revenue sharing formular agreed at independence. The much talked about decree 34 only standardised the civil service. Compare this with Gowon who came in after Ironsi and used Decree 14 to dissolve all 4 Regions, created 12 states, abolished resource control, scrapped the revenue sharing formular, and you find out that it was Gowon who introduced unitary rule That Ojukwu started the war Far from it, Ojukwu risked his life to prevent war and keep Nigeria one. He risked his life to go to Ghana and meet Gowon so as to find lasting peace in Nigeria during tumultuous times. He reached an agreement with Gowon, now known as the Aburi accord, that would bring peace and keep Nigeria together. Him and Gowon signed the agreement in front of the President of Ghana Unfortunately, Gowon broke the agreement, which forced Ojukwu to declare Biafra, which brought about war. If anyone caused the war, it was Gowon who could not keep to signed agreement Know your history and dont be swayed by lies 16 Likes 3 Shares |

This is exactly why history needs to be brought back to our curriculum, the people that removed it from the curriculum knew that history won't see them in good light, that's why they removed it in the first place. I've seen too many afjs on this platform spreading lies because of their inate bigotry and hate for igbos. 9 Likes |

Lol, Igbos and their constant attempt to rewrite history. Even Zik himself came out publicly to accept the fact that he was the one that worked against the inclusion of secession clause in the constitution. So, what’s your point again? You know more than Zik? 11 Likes |

@Op,yes you may be right to some extent, but I believe that Zik being politically naive, (yes I said so, despite being from the same region) and blinded by his love for Nigeria carried the ONE Nigeria motor on his head like hair. Others had foresight and wanted regional politics but Papa Zik was carried away with the frenzy of One Nigeria and being called Zik of Africa. Today, while others have a rallying point in their regions, only the igbos are acting like political orphans and fighting each other. Imagine Orji Ụzor Kalu coming out to play the devil's advocate against his brother just to curry favour from Tinubu and APC. Hope Uzodinma also abandoning his brother to support a good for nothing party that have impoverished Nigerians. This are all effects of Zik's short sightedness. The Sarduanas and Awolowos were playing politics with their eyes and mind fixated on their regions, but Zik thought he can keep Nigeria one. That was a silly mistake and costly one too. 3 Likes 1 Share |

OP on behalf of the entire peoples of Nigeria I come on my knees begging the Igbo nation for forgiveness and all the atrocities netted on your people prior to and during the war. My father served as an army engineer corps officer on the Nigerian side and on his death bed he confessed to me on raping hundreds of Igbo maidens in front of their parents and husbands in exchange for his army ration kit. He pointed to a safe in his room and told me the combination and asked to bring an envelope containing several obscene pictures he took with his army issued Kodak camera with hundreds of naked Igbo girls he paid with a biscuits to strip for him. He also pointed to another large envelope containing several gold necklaces , ear rings and rings that weighed over 3kg in total. He specifically asked me to destroy the photos and gave me details of my supposedly step brothers and sisters he fathered as a young officer in Biafra and asked me to locate them that he had made provisions for them in his will. I thought I was an only child but here's my father who had me in his late 40's telling me I had 5 siblings (he knew of) and that there were definitely more. My father was very rich in his death owing to his own parents wealth and that which he amassed himself. I also used to wonder why it took him so long to get married and now I know it was because he already had fathered so many in Biafra and did not see any reason to settle down. Anyways, I have contacted pornhub and they said they will be willing to pay premium price for his over 2,000 high quality vintage prints and additional sums for the original film negative. I ain't burning shit. I am cashing out on this collection big time. His loot of gold collections are going to be sold as soon as the price of gold appreciated when Russia floats their own alternate gold market to rival the monopoly of the London Bullion Gold Market. I am seeing at least $3,000 an ounce before selling it and not donating shit to an Igbo Orphanage in the east he said he had fond memories from didling kids there. As for my supposed siblings , I am like FCK em! Not doing any will with them. So there you have it. 3 Likes |

This a lame attempt at rewriting history. Nobody said Zik had the sole power to decide whether secession clause was included or not. His region represented by him had one vote just like the other two regions. He decided for whatever reason to align with the position of the north and vote against the secession clause. This is what happened not the balderdash you wrote up there. 4 Likes |

OneEyedSnake: I guess Zik didn't want to be on Awo's side even if it means voting against his own interests. I believe the secession clause would have made our leaders more accountable. Instead of going to war, the Biafrans would have been in a better position to negotiate a good deal with the rest of Nigeria. Hate and petty jealousy would not let the old man think straight. 3 Likes |

ElSudani: You lie again. The Igbo position as stated in Zik's infamous speech on Igbo commitment to one nijeriya and that of Achebe's description of the Igbo not weighed down by culture or kings says a lot about Igbo views on dominating the polity. It is for these reasons a one Nigeria remained crucial to the Igbo. 3 Likes |

Lol. No matter how bitter you try to feel against it, it was truly Ironsi that enforced the unitary system of government and it was he who removed Federal from the constitution and turned Nigeria to a “Republic”. I kinda lowkey understand Ironsi because as a military government, the only way to administer power within the regions will be to unify so that he can easily takeover the appointment of military governors to oversee those regions. Anything Gowon did after that was basically from what Ironsi did. Stop trying to rewrite history you Ibo people. I think there has been countless thread on this before. LegendHero: 4 Likes

gidgiddy: Well done….want to add that Zik was acting in the interest of Britain although he tried to do whatever good he could have for everybody….more for others than Easterners…. That was his problem…. And he should have lost relevance after losing our in Western region elections…which would have brought sense to the One Nigeria Igbo to look at putting East first like other regions were doing at that time. Also Ojukwu not only risked his life to go to Ghana, he risked his life to go to Niger Republic DURING the war- a Muslim Fulani stronghold for a peace meeting that Gowon DID NOT attend… Too bad many BLACK AFRICAN guys today at the age of 33/34 are busy watching the colonial enriched BARCLAYS EPL and do not even know their own history….. 1 Like |

ElSudani: Didnt you see the names of some of the delegates there? Do you think tradional rulers such as Njemanze, Essien and Onukogu from the East would have travelled all the way to London to sit and deliberate only for Zik to have the deciding vote? Of course not The false narrative that has been sold for years is that the only reason secession did not make it into the constitution was because it was the will of Zik, yet Zik had only one vote 1 Like |

The thing is this, we have a set of people that have been living on propaganda for so long in Nigeria that their brains had been whitewashed to believe their lies. Their sole aim is to be anti-Igbo, using pure undiluted lies to support their stories. There was a time they were holding sway here till we bursted all their fabrications one after the other. We thank God for the dearth of traditional news media. |
