Men of the State Security Service (SSS) in Kogi have started monitoring preaching in mosques and churches, as part of measures to prevent religious crisis in the state.

The state Director of SSS, Mr Mike Fubara, told newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday that the organisation had also been monitoring open air preaching and other religious events in different parts of the state.

Fubara said that it was now mandatory for intending preachers from within and outside the state to undergo screening and get clearance from the SSS before preaching.

He said that hotels in the state were now under intense surveillance to prevent unscrupulous elements from using them as hideouts to perpetrate criminal activities.

The SSS boss said that banks and corporate organisations operating in the state had been invited to meetings and given specific instructions to beef up security in and around their premises.

He said that similar meetings had also been held with the leadership of transport unions, adding that operation of commercial motorcycles would come under new regulations as soon as Ramadan fast was over.

Fubara said that the cordial working relationship among the security agencies in the state had helped in preventing the spill over of Boko Haram activities into the state.

As the state gears up for the governorship election later this year, the security chief appealed to journalists to refrain from heating up the polity and urged them to be fair in their reportage of political events.

He also urged residents to provide useful information to security agencies.

That is why they are not so smart after all.Why say it when you could make actions speak louder than words.Start arresting and charging some people to court straight.As the News spread that people disappear and then suddenly reappear in court with serious incriminating charges then,they know you were just being careful and always on alert.
During Abacha we never heard or read about how the SSS works but rumor has it that people just get wisked away once in awhile for incitment and sentiments against the government.Not later but sooner, alot of people began to mind there business and keep there madness within there own bodies.For some activist who witness detention and some bashing pele.All went well apart from that in terms of security.I remember the same el-zaaky in Zaria was detain and when his followers came in there numbers to free him.The casualty they suffered and more rounding up made them peacefull untill OBJ tenure.I don't want violation of basic human rights.Just quietly do this monitoring and disgrace the people using the alter for preaching hate and jail then for disrupting Fed rep. of Naija.
Its a good move and please not just kogi.You need to reach Kaduna(south and north serious breeding ground),Plateau (Serious hate breeding ground for religious extremism in both faiths),Kano(serious breeding ground for bias/politically motivated minds) etc.I already know that SSS head quaters is now in Borno so no need to tell you about that one.Don't forget the Militant groups too and all the haters.
Infiltrate and listen,gather evidence,prosecute and convict period!!! Attitude will change dramatically over nite and love your neigbour shall be preached from all speakers of all faiths.Even if they don't mean ,whihc we don't wanna know.Include Okija shrine abeg to avoid looting via oaths
