Anambra State Internal Revenue Service has hinted that it hopes to achieve a projected internally generated revenue (IGR) of N50 billion for the 2022 fiscal year.

Chairman of the service, Dr. David Nzekwu, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), yesterday, in Awka, the state capital.

Nzekwu expressed the hope that the target for the year was achievable and that Anambra had the capacity to generate over N120 billion yearly internally if the right environment was created.

He said before Governor Willie Obiano’s administration, Anambra was generating N8.7 billion yearly, but the recent statistics published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), showed that the state had the capacity to generate over N28 billion as revenue yearly.
