As endeavors to decongest the country's detainment jail, the federal Government has said it will speed up activity on the quick finishing of not less than three out of the six 3,000 capacity custodial focus spread across the geopolitical zones.

The improvement would add 9,000 spaces to the current conveying limit of Nigerian Jails.

Minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola revealed this on Monday in Abuja after an assessment visit through one of the offices situated in Karshi town of the federal Capital Territory FCT.

Nigeria's whole public custodial offices have a greatest limit with respect to 57, 278 detainees.

Notwithstanding, as at the last count, there was an all out populace of 68,747 detainees, comprised of 67,422 guys and 1,325 females.
