True, you can protest and make others suffer By deciding not to do a particular thing that you usually do, like refusing to work. But it is wrong for you to stop others from doing what they want to do in the name of protest.

However, you will not be commiting any crime if you do this. The people will have the right to forcefully disperse you, but not to lock you up. That's why persistence in this kind of actions can succeed in getting the attention of the decision makers.
