People who earn such amount typically don't pay tax. I think they run a progressive taxing system. Where the more you earn the more tax(in percentage) you pay. There's a minimum amount before you start paying tax, I don't know the exact figure but $31k might be below those getting taxed.

Yes, wise people always do. But majority of people aren't so wise.
Another thing you should know is that we all come from different backgrounds, it's easier for someone who doesn't have debts of any kinds to repay and little to no other responsibilities asides oneself, to save. Than for one with all that baggages.

The summation of the total outputs of a country is called the GDP, these outputs can include the manufacturing, service, and governmental outputs. Now here is the fact, if you want to calculate the GDP in USA, you will add the service of changing the brake pad of a vehicle as $1800 to the GDP, while here in Nigeria the same service will add about $150 to the GDP. In the end, Nigerian GDP will appear smaller compared to the USA's.

But here is perspective. The $1800 she was charged is about 1 week and half wage.

Now how many people earn 800k in a week and half which translates to a monthly salary of over 2 million. So you see the foolery of converting her dollars to naira for us to see how heavily she was charged.
