In Nigeria Being A Single Young Lady In The Corporate Sector Is HARD WORK! by lavylilly: 5:08pm On Sep 24, 2022 |
I don't really blame young ladies who decide not to get corporate jobs after NYSC, but prefer to sit at home or sell stuff on the gram and all that. A female friend just narrated her ordeal, according to her she's still suffering from the Truma of her former place of work and is finding it really difficult to go back to the office despite her brilliance and educational qualification, she was marginalized, ridiculed, denied her rights and all. Babe finished NYSC, got a job after overcoming the interview hurdles and all. On the job she puts in her best but her growth was stunted because she didn't "play ball" (sleep with her bosses, dress seductively or become the "company's sexy girl" same job a male colleague would do and get a raise, a lady would have to do ×3 to prove her worth, aside from being tagged bossy/intimidating. Let's not act surprised, seems like there's this unwritten rule that for a single lady one of the "values" she should bring to the office is sexiness, so no matter how brilliant and qualified she is, she's assigned to a client facing role where she can be seen like a trophy, this is common in most Nigerian offices expecially non-multinationals, average salary sef no go pas 100k. Then most get frustrated and resort to other means to survive. This is just a bit of what Itunu(not real name) went through and now I understand why most ladies resort to selling online, being unemployed, or hook-ups(for the weak minded that believe instead of hooking up with a boss why not do it full time) or make I just marry sit down for house, that's it, ambition killed!! someone who could've become a Director in future. Please support the young ladies in your space, older women in C-level try to protect and mentor these ladies, 'women supporting women' should apply in the corporate sector as you overcame help others too. Yes the corporate world is difficult for everybody but it's mostly unfair to young single ladies 2 Likes 3 Shares |

I know a lot of females who have experienced or are currently experiencing this, its sad but thats the way the world currently is,i believe a change will come one day, once upon a time a couple hundred years ago, black people were legally sold and bought openly and it was the norm for hundreds of years, right now such activities are illegal, what i am trying to say is since slavery which was accepted can be abolished ,then marginalisation of females in the business sector can be stopped too one day, just keep fighting. 1 Like |

Wait o , how will I open my mouth to ask a lady for sex before I can give her job? How does it sound? Some men are scum indeed. Some men even sleep with these girls and ended up not giving them the job. But some ladies are not helping matters, 2 yrs ago a lady came to our office seeking for job. She met all our requirements and I have already included her name for interview. I didn't know how this lady got my number, she called me the following day and was telling me she was ready to give me just anything if she can get the job. I made it clear to her that I don't do such thing. 2 Likes |

This your writeup does not make sense. Yes, i understand that most Nigerian men are simps especially the elderly ones, they want to sleep with anything on skirt But what put me off in your write up is the hook up part. So a woman should do hookup instead of sleeping with the boss? 1 Like |

Sometimes, there were better qualified men but they chose you because you were the perfect face for a client whose interests might just save the company. In such instances, you will be disturbed until you play the role of which you were employed 1 Like |
