THE REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE YOU NEED TO HAVE BEFORE STARTING A POULTRY FARM BUSINESS. Running a chicken farm requires knowledge, time, patience, and experience from those who have been in the farming business before you. Before starting a poultry farm you have to know and be aware of the following, 1) CHOOSE JUST ONE ASPECT IN POULTRY BUSINESS YOU CAN EASILY FOCUS ON. This will help you establish your brand to stand out in the business, We have different aspects in poultry farming you can go for egg production, meat production, or go for both. Choose the type of bird Breed or hatchery you will be ordering your birds from, and also the location you want your farm situated which will also be suitable for you. Make an egg-laying farm if you want to work with egg production. Chicken farms usually fall into 1 of 2 categories: egg-laying or meat production. Choose egg-laying as your focus if you'd prefer to work with hens and sell farm-fresh eggs OR Create a meat production farm if you're interested in raising chicken for meat. Meat production is a lucrative farming business if you're comfortable butchering, processing chickens for meat or for frozen foods. 2).CREATE THE PERFECT BUSINESS PLAN. Write an outline for how you plan to run your farm and what your long-term goals are for the next 3-5 years and also how much demand you want to create supply for in the next few years.Business plans are useful for attracting investors, and business partners and you can easily use them to secure a loan when the need arises. 3) GET THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENTS FOR YOUR BIRDS. I Understand when you are just starting you may want to manage money and start with what you have but notwithstanding try to get the necessary ones. The type of equipment you need will depend on the farm you're running an egg-laying or meat production farm. 4) DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF WORKERS YOU WILL NEED TO OPERATE ON YOUR FARM. But if your birds are 1,000 upward you will need to employ people to help you. 1 employee is enough for 1000 birds 2 employees are enough for 3,000 birds 5). DONT SELF MEDICATE YOUR BIRDS. Don't do self-medication and use your birds for experiments, bring sick birds to a vet or seek a consultant. Diseases spread quickly between chickens, so inspect them regularly for illnesses or pest infestation. 6)HAVE A FARM RECORD. Write down your farming sales and production records for future reference. Through your records, you will know if your business is creating a profit or you making a loss. The record will also help you to cut back on costs and earn more money. If you notice that you're spending too much on chicken feed, for example, shop around with different suppliers to find a cheaper feed. 7) MARKET YOUR BUSINESS TO SPREAD THE WORD.
