I intend to go into programming and video editing. I have got a budget of 80k for Laptop. Can I get a fairly used one that can go for that amount?
Can this specification attached below do the both convincingly? Pls , programmers in the house. Help a brother.

You didn't state your state (location in Nigeria) but for programming, I doubt you mean web/app design, even programming sef, any laptop of at least Core i5, at least 8GB Ram (the more, the better) and at least 14-inch display would do.

Avoid laptops with Mobile CPUs - except you know about laptops, or confide with one who does, you just would be gambling.

As for brands, go for the enterprise grade laptops of any manufacturer though I would focus more on Dell, Toshiba, HP, and some unpopular brands. Reason is, the enterprise/business grades are much more engineered to be durable.

Avoid Slim laptops also as the slimmer, the weaker and more fragile such PC would be irrespective of it's cost.

As for costs, I would suggest using jiji . ng and searching based on your state of residence.

As for Graphics design, you need just get a laptop with more GPU, and probably bigger screen like 15-inch. Remember, the bigger the display, the shorter the battery life.

By the way, I suggest you take them one after the other. Both are not something you could grasp enough to cal yourself average within a year.

Also, any laptop (even Pentium 4) could be used for Web design/development/programming. Just that having a PC with more resources gives room for more comfort, less frustration, and more growth.

My suggestion would be, pick one out of the 3 and focus on it well. Maybe later on, you could add another. Wouldn't be wrong calling myself an expert in a few languages, but I have spent over 8-years actively coding.

My focus: Web development & Server Administration.
Though I know and have done a couple of App developments, I still wouldn't call myself average if I'm being honest with myself.


What I sense you doing is Picking fields you believe pay more so which ever way, you're in (aka Jack of all trades) but that would only hurt you more, and probably be the catalyst that quickens your exit.

Pick one or two and be very good in it. With time, you would gradually pickup few other areas (with reason) without really knowing.

For instance, I may write JavaScript to some extent, yet never learnt how to.

Focus more on what interests you. Not what you assume pays more

First of all dead the thought of video editing

Although ,you can use that laptop for web design(ui/ux) and for frontend web development. Though your laptop might lag sha.. and if you are using doing ui/ux,use edge browser,it is lighter than chrome as chrome is more ram intensive if you open multiple tabs

When looking for laptop, don't insist on any specific processor, only aim for good processor.
One way to aim is to use the speed and cache. =>2.5GHz for speed and above 3MB for cahce is enough. AMD or intel is good.
Even HDD can be 250GB.
