According to INEC, if such support is received, it is necessary to transfer these funds to the election commission.

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, political parties across the country have been issued a serious warning by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to collect donations from foreign countries.

The Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, stated this during an interview with Trust TV on Sunday.

He explained that parties cannot receive financial support from foreign countries to sponsor their electioneering activities.

Are we classifying Nigerians in diaspora as "foreign countries"? How can I be a country in another man's country?
