18,000 seater capacity stadium inaugurated in Eket, A’Ibom State



Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State on Friday inaugurated the ultra-modern Eket Sports Stadium in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.

Bello while inaugurating the ultra-modern sports facility, noted that the 18,000– seater capacity stadium would breed talents in Akwa Ibom and the nation.

He described the stadium as a fantastic and nice facility that was built in record time, saying that the stadium would encourage young people from Eket to play football and is a breeding ground to produce quality footballers.

“We will flag off the stadium with a match between Kastina United and Akwa Ibom United,” Bello said.

The governor noted that the stadium would create and germinate footballers in the state in particular and the country at large.

Bello commended Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom for what he had done for the people of Akwa Ibom.

“You are a great man with a clean heart but your commitment, your dedication, and your promise to the people of Akwa Ibom is fulfilled and God bless you.

“I thank God. Emmanuel on behave of Akwa Ibom and Nigerians as a whole for a good example as a leader.

“You used resources available to the state in the areas of infrastructure, education, and sport among others,” Bello said.

In his remark, Emmanuel noted that the multi-million naira’s modern Eket Sport stadium was a key driver of talent in the state.

“This is a great day indeed for youths in Akwa Ibom and the sports community both in the state and the nation.

He noted that the first major competition that would be held in the stadium was the police sports festival which would hold in the last quarter of the year.

The governor reassured the people of Eket that every single project that is still ongoing in Eket would be completed before his administration winds down.

“It will be all completed, so have no fears, we will finish all the ongoing projects in Eket no matter what happens.

“Even if the contractor does not want to work, we will push him to work,” Emmanuel stressed.

He thanked the indigenous contractors for the construction of the sports stadium.

Earlier, Mr Monday Uko, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports hinted that the stadium was built by indigenous contractors from the state.
