CRIME: 10 Farm Workers Escape As Gunmen Abduct 4 In Oke-ogun by NaijaphiliaBlog: 11:15pm On Oct 10, 2022
Gunmen abducted 4 workers while no fewer than 10 others escaped at a farm settlement in Okaka area of Itesiwaju LGA of Oyo State, on Saturday 8th October 2022.

The gunmen, according to eyewitness accounts, stormed the settlement at midday Saturday and scared passersby and other people with sporadic shooting.

Speaking on the incident, Chairman of the Farm Settlement Association, Mr Adepoju, disclosed that security operatives are on the trail of the gunmen. ”It is very unfortunate that this is now happening in our area. The recurring cases of kidnap in the area has given residents sleepless nights. They asserted that if the situation persists, it may lead to scarcity of foodstuffs and skyrocketing prices in the market, as farmers may be forced to remain indoors.

When contacted, the Police PRO Adewale Osifeso said investigation is ongoing: “The incident was reported to have happened along Ipapo/Okaka road under Itesiwaju LGA along Oke-Ogun axis in the early hours of Saturday 08/10/2022. Investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided accordingly, please.”

Meanwhile, the Oyo State government has deployed....

The issue of kidnapping for ransom / banditry has really gotten out of hand in this country.

The Federal Government does not appear to be particularly bothered about the plague of abductions happening all over the country... regional security arrangements like Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn will proliferate very soon.
