A few weeks ago, obidients and zombidients have inundated us with the excellent performance of Obi when he was governor of Anambra. We were regaled with tales of how he transformed the state and even saved billions for the state before leaving office. Some of us didn't believe the bullshit Obi's supporters were trying to sell to the world. We argued that if Anambra was that transformed under Obi, Obiano wouldn't have been the one building the first airport in Anambra. He wouldn't have been the governor installing the first set of traffic lights on major roads in Anambra and he wouldn't have been the one building the first flyover in the state.

As the banter continued, heavy rain started across the country, and today, more than 50% of Anambra state is underwater. While this is a sad occurrence especially because lives and properties have been destroyed with many other people rendered homeless, we wonder if this is the same Anambra Obi was said to have ruled exceptionally well. With Obi claiming to have saved billions of naira for the state, you would have thought all the state's challenges have been addressed. Flooding in Anambra did not just start this year and neglect by successive governments (including Obi) led to the disaster we are seeing today.

My question to Obi... Why did you prefer to keep Anambra's money in Fidelity Bank instead of using it to solve the environmental and infrastructure challenges the state was facing?

If only the Federal government allowed Anambra state government work on the river Niger, Anambra and the surrounding states will be a beauty to behold.

The federal government refused to dredge the River Niger, refused to operate the river port that would have driven commerce to inland towns and even delayed the second Niger Bridge till today!

The federal government of Nigeria has, through the Constitution, held on to some vital developments in the south east, using the exclusive list to deceive all of us.

Do you know how hard and long Obiano fought before he could build a common airport in Anambra, he had to do it by force. The second Niger Bridge is not even as long as some bridges already built in Anambra state by past governors.

The problem on the south east, is created and sustained by the federal government.

Because you want to surreptitiously bring disdain on Obi as to wane his goodwill, you write to exposure your ignorance. What is happening over there is flooding and this affects so many states, not only Anambra. It is also pertinent to note that the flooding does not affect all areas but areas sitting on the flood plain and having an elevation below sea level. This has also affected adversely parts of Kogi, Bayelsa, Delta states etc. So writing such crap to talk about Obi shows a misinformation on your part and a stealth mischievousness based on your inner conviction asserting Obi as a credible alternative and a formidable contender-to-displace. If you know the mechanics of flooding, you will know that even advanced climes cannot contain it.

Instead of you putting pressure on your governors and demanding good governance, you would rather blame FG - I really pity you guys.

FG allowed Lagos state government to work even on the Ocean (the bar beach comes to mind). So, why won't the FG allow Anambra to work on river niger to save people's lives?

The River Niger does not start in Anambra .It does not end in Anambra so dredging it is not an Anambra project.
It is not clear how dredging the River is relevant here

What I see is just frustration on your part which you do not have the intellect to articulate and you are just mixing unrelated issues.Somehow you are talking of exclusive list and other rubbish

Can Anambra dredge Niger without support of Delta ,Bayelsa, Rivers state even if the FG agrees
What will the environment impact be on those others states . Anambra is just one state on the Niger Kogi Kwara Niger Sokoto Kebbi are also there so do not make it seem as if Anambra owns the River.
Which FG delayed second Niger bridge? Once again Anambra is not the only state on the Niger and not the only state entitles to 2nd Niger Bridge. The Niger river passes through SEVERAL states all EQUALLY deserving of bridges too

Did I say Anambra plans to dredge the River Niger alone? The contract starts from the North. You should be blaming the federal government for this mess.

Baba, dredging is different from sand filling your state or creating a sand barrier. Do you know about a body called the FIWA?

Foolishness in trenchcoat.

Right here is the biggest problem of the East but as well the greatest joy of Eastern governors and politicians. They understand their people will NEVER hold them to account but would rather blame anyon else for their failures.

I envy the crooks in that region honestly. smiley

To create a depth needed for vessels to sail inland, and to deepen the river so it can take more water volumes without spilling over easily.

Irrelevant propaganda. As if Obi is God that averts Natural disasters. In fact almost all the states in Nigeria are currently experiencing the flood and appropriate authorities are still even warning more is coming including Lagos

Agbadorian reptiles don't know how to deploy propaganda. That's why they're making a huge joke of themselves. Very predictable irritants. Just look at the write up above! You're going to blame Peter Obi for a flood that's effecting almost half of the country and originated from outside the country? How can you sell such obviously ridiculous propaganda and expect folks to take you serious afterwards? Agbadorians lack tact. They are so desperate. Corrupted and twisted souls. Propaganda is normally attached to believable narratives to make meanings to the recipients. That's the only way you can hoodwink the people.

But agbadorians will tell you on a Monday morning that Peter Obi killed MASSOB youths and dumped their bodies at the Ezu river, then on Tuesday, the same people will tell you that Obi is supporting IPOB. Wednesday, they will ask you why Obi didn't hold his rally on Monday! If he killed MASSOB folks because he didn't believe in their messages, how then can he be supporting IPOB !?!? I thought IPOB and MASSOB are all fighting for the same cause. How can you lambast him for fighting against MASSOB and then accuse him of supporting IPOB!? Does that make sense even to a kindergarten? Is that not like clutching on straws??

Too much dodo in the Agbadorian skulls

Why is it nececassy for vessels to sail inland and why is Anambra pivotal? Why not sail to Kwara or Sokoto? Have you ever imported anything before.
Why not have surgery to place a tube directly into the stomach so as to bypass the mouth? It is possible but unecessary
I do not believe any foreign vessel will find insurance to sail into Nigeria in the next 10 years. Even the Niger Delta is very risky. Vessels sailing inland is not sufficient to justify what will not be a one off thing. Also the idead that dredging will allow the River to hold more water is quite funny . Do you know where the River starts

Dredging for the purpose of allowing vessels to sail inland ultimately is not a decision for Anambra rather it is the concern of the people of RIvers, Bayelsa and Delta whose fishermen will be affected by the environmental impact of this funny and unnecessary idea. Why should Rivers State or Bayelsa agree to it? How does it benefit them? It does not rather it is damaging to their environment and very risky

Sadly people supporting this idea think only of themselves.
What is the Enviromental impact in terms of flooding or damage to the ecosystem and fishing livelihoods in the Niger Delta
The logical thing is to have ports in any of the Niger States and connect them to the hinterland by rail and road not this ridiculous dredging idea which will make flooding worse and damage the fishing industry in the Niger Delta

It will increase piracy and criminality along the river for no clear benefit
