If you are having no or low sales as an Amazon Kindle Direct Publisher. Then read this to the end.



If you didn't know, you need to use special phrases or words called KEYWORDS to make your book discoverable on Amazon.




Keywords make it easier for readers to find your book. Good and strong Keywords can also be referred to as viable or profitable keywords.




Once your keywords are viable, this can directly lead to more book sales. However, before you rush off, you must know that the essence of your keyword research is to provide contextual information on the content of your book.




So, whenever you are doing your keywords research, make sure the keywords you are using will accurately portray your book content and reflect the words customers will use when they search (read it again)





Ensure you do good keyword research. Use keywords that you will find easy to rank. These keywords must have high search volume both on Amazon and Google with low competition.



So when you want to use any keyword, ask yourself if they meet the requirements mentioned above?



What Are The Other Rules You Must Adhere To?




1. Think Like a Reader.

The first idea when it comes to having a viable keyword is to think like a reader. Ask yourself, how and what would I search for, if I were a customer?





For instance, you have a book on how to bake. From the customer's point, what will you search for if you want to buy a book on baking?





2. Always Do Your Search and Verify If a Keyword Is Viable

When you come up with your own list of search terms, don't just use them as keywords. Before publishing, search using keywords you are considering using on Amazon. If you get irrelevant or unsatisfying results, make some changes.





There are a lot of tools you can use to get keywords, these include, Amazon search bar, Keyword Everywhere Chrome Extension, Keywordtooldotio and a truck load of others including paid tools.





3. These Little Things Can Ruin Your Effort.

When typing your Keywords avoid spelling errors, variant of spacing, punctuation, capitalization and pluralization.




Don't use words like "bestseller", "best novel ever", "on sale", "available now" etc.




Anything misrepresentative like the name of an author not associated with your book. This kind of information can create a confusing customer's experience. KDP has a zero tolerance policy for Metadata that is meant to advertise, promote or mislead.



4. Use The Seven Keywords Backend Space

Ensure you use up to seven keywords or short phrases in the seven keyword backend space. Keep an eye on the character limit in the text field.





You can change keyword and description as often as you like.





However, if your book is available in different formats (physical, audio) keep your keywords and description consistent across formats.
