Yesterday October 17th, Biafran trooped to the famous Anfield Stadium, Liverpool, to remember those killed in the Asaba massacre of October 1967.

Asaba is an Igbo town on the west flank of the River Niger and is capital of Delta State. In October 1967 when Soldiers of Nigeria's second division entered the city, there was widespread massacre of unarmed civilians. It is estimated that over a thousand people were lined up and shot by the Nigerian Army

Although Asaba was not part of Biafra, it is thought that the massacre was purely because it was an Igbo town

Hiroshima and Nagasaki had a nuclear bomb dropped on them but today US and Japan are best of allies. How long are you going to live with bitterness. There were records of atrocities committed by Biafrans as well.

So remind us about this whenever Nigeria reaches the stage that America, Nagasaki and Hiroshima have reached today

So, your bitterness is predicated on the fact that Nigeria is not yet like US and Japan?

You see disaster, there are others who see hope despite the obvious difficulties which are indeed surmountable.
US and Japan also had their own difficulties which they worked hard to overcome.

Asaba, an Igbo town, yet they are not observing Mondays Sit at Home. Their Asaba brothers should join them in solidarity. Why should the South East be killing themselves on behalf of their Asaba brothers. This life no just balance.

Americans paid reparations and also rebuilt Japan as well as assisting them militarily but Nigeria continues to marginalised Biafrans till this day with some people sayings Igbos can never rule this country.

You see the difference?

Typical Afonja! Comparing apples to oranges as usual. The US poured in billions of dollars of investments into Japan at the end of that war. The US refused to remove The Emperor of Japan as a mark of respect to the Japanese culture so they don't feel humiliated. The US practically cleaned up the two cities, got Japan into NATO, opened the US borders for many Japanese to come and study and earn enough to help kickstart their dead economy post war and pushed forward the Marshall plan for rebuilding.... Essentially, The United States went out of her way to rebuild Japan so much so that in relative terms, just few decades after the war, the Japanese economy was competing neck to neck with that of the United States!

Now can you reel out the programs carried out by federal Nigeria to reintegrate the igbos into Nigeria post Nigeria vs Biafra war?? With excess oil receipts, where was the equivalent of the marshall plan? Gowon and Obasanjo were busy building up Lagos that saw nowar skirmishes while Eastern cities that were all carpet bombed were still in ruins. How many igbos, a major ethnic group in Nigeria, have been allowed into the power centers ever since? The Japanese run their country, are the igbos running their country? Any Igbo presidents of the country since the end of that war? Where are the economic policies unleashed by the federal government to rehabilitate the Igbo cities after the war? Which one single igbo city destroyed during the war was rebuild by federal Nigeria? Name just one!

Please stop this quasi-intellectual madness by the silly insinuation of Nigeria in the same prism with US and Japan. Has the shithole called Nigeria ever grown out of mere geographical expression?

you are a big fool, you chipped in a foolish statement in your post that Asaba is not part of Biafra...Na thunder go strike u and your family there. Asaba is more Biafra than Abia state. They fought and stood firm but were overpowered by the Nigerian army because Asaba was close to the Nigerian Boarder. Biafran Army had to blow up the bridge to slow down the movement of Nigerian Army and regroup after people from Asaba have crossed the bridge.
