I don't attend burials if I can help it.

But I was in a mortuary once to see one of my students who died suddenly. The boy came to school that morning and seemed healthy until during break time when he slumped while watching his mates playing football. They rushed him to hospital and before closing time, we heard that he had died.

Some teachers began to make plans to visit his parents. When we got to their house, we heard they were still in the hospital. I felt and still feel uneasy about being in or around hospitals, but the other teachers wanted us to visit the hospital and stay to see what we can help with. So, we went.

At the hospital, we were referred to the mortuary. At this point, I wanted to say I had had enough and would come to give my own condolences later. But yet again, I just went along with the others without a word. The front desk personnel quizzed us and would not have let us in, but unfortunately, one of the relatives who knew us, came and identified us as family, and we were allowed in.

To cut the long story short, I saw the corpse. There was absolutely nothing familiar about it. The skin (which was fair when he was alive) had turned very black. I could not recognize him. And the way he lay on the mat on the floor of the mortuary, he looked larger than I had known him. And there seemed to be a frown on his face. I had sleepless nights and nightmares for weeks. When I eventually got over my fears, it was like I had been freed from bondage.

Everything you just narrated reminded me of a movie called The Autopsy Of Jane Doe try and see it. Very interesting and extremely scary when watched alone at night with ear piece. grin
Omo I watched this movie back then in one of my trips to manila via night bus damn, everybody was asleep the bus was almost empty too worst still I went to the last row of seats cos I wanted to enjoy the movie alone, the adrenaline rush from fear was second to non especially when I looked out the window

The generator finally came on and the brightness was restored. Everything was exactly the way it was. All what I thought I saw must have been figments of my imagination. My enemy finally came back to open the door and found me drenched in sweat and fear beside the door. He was surprised and asked how I was locked inside, but, my mouth was too dry to speak. sad He later explained that, they did not want some people to have access to the their father, hence, the abrupt locking of the door. I was so angry and scared to the extent that, I almost rejected my packaged jollof rice. undecided But, you know burial jollof is the “GOAT” and I couldn't let it pass me by. wink I was extremely careful and vigilant till I concluded the burial job. The experience still sends me shivers till this day. The end. cool

Nice tale that could make a good story but you should have talked about your phone. How you left it with a friend during the your scramble to get the best shots out and the crowd. And how you should have used it to light the room, in the circumstance. I also think you meant Psalm 23 and not 24.

BTW, I will patronise you but you go assure me say no be that same camera you go use for me grin
