Kogi State has just made history.

It has become the first state in the northern part of Nigeria to ever receive the 13% Derivation Fund that is allocated and paid to oil-producing states in the country.

The state Governor, Yahaya Bello disclosed on Wednesday 19 October 2022 at the weekly executive council meeting held in Lugard House, Lokoja, that the state has received it first payment of the Derivation Fund.

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) had earlier classified Kogi State as an oil producing state, thereby qualifying it to receive the 13% Derivation Fund payments from the federation account, like other oil-producing states.

The state has started receiving the payment because its Oda River oil well-1 in Ibaji L.G.A. has begun production and now contributes to the federation account.

The 13% Oil Derivation Fund is enshrined in section 162, sub-section 2 of the Nigerian Constitution.

B. OTHER PROSPECTIVE RECIPIENTS OF THE 13% DERIVATION FUND
1. Lagos State: Yet to get the derivation fund payments because its offshore Aje oil field located in Oil Mining Lease 113 has not yet started contributing to Nigeria's daily oil production.

2. Ogun State: Likewise yet to start receiving the fund payment because its Tongeji Island oil reserves in Ipokia L.G.A. have not yet started contributing to the country's daily oil production.

3. Bauchi State: Also not yet receiving the funds because its Kolmani River oil and gas reserves in Alkaleri L.G.A. are not contributing yet to the country's daily production.

4. Enugu State: Not yet declared as an oil-producing state by the RMAFC. However, there are currently 2 oil wells (OPL 915 and 916) located in the state.

It depends from where you are.
If you are in Rivers State it looks North. If you are in Edo it looks south. If you are in Nasarawa it also looks North.

Get your fact right....there is nothing north about Kogi....!!!

Go to the estern part of kogi and you would meet with the igala tribe which some of them even share Kins with the Igbos, go to the west you would see okuns who share kins with the yoruba, go to Central and you would think you are staring at an edo man if you see some of them....!!! The area that got the oil is sharing boundary with the Igbos....there is no hausa or fulani traits anywhere in them except the Islam religion brought in by hausa/Fulani traders and they feel they can better blend their tradition religion with Islam rather than Christianity and that's how some them became moslem...large part of the moslem you see there are mostly hausa/Fulani who have stayed long there....!!!

It was Peter Obi that invested in the search of oil at the Anambra basin with Orient oil and gas. The oil well they discovered at the boundary extended into kogi and Enugu State. What noise does kogi want to make? They disrupted activities of Anambra oil workers till boundary commission cut small for them
