Education A Scam? by sam20(m): 6:17pm On Oct 25, 2022
Education is a scam according to majority of your youths, what makes the world revolves according to their youthful mind is money. They fail to understand that there is a difference BTW Education, intelligence and wealth, whilst the the first two are mutually inclusive to a larger extent wealth is mutually exclusive from the formers.

The relationship between intelligence and education is one that scientists have been studying for years. It is correct to say that higher level of education leads to greater level of intelligence and also true the other way around, however, it does not apply for every situation. It is always like a dagger to my heart when I listen to discussion among our youth and what their day to day literary consumption is all about although my research and observations of a lot of our youths and their body language to education enhanced by the abysmal deterioration in our educational systems as a pointer, my answer wasn't far fetched at all.

I wished for the old good days growing up when a lot of us look forward to writing GCE and WAEC and also compete among ourselves educationally and otherwise on who will have the best results, a lot of people toured this nation all in the name of writing Post UTME at a tender age to achieve that dream of gaining admission into our preferred institution even thou most of us didnt achieve being admitted into our dream university yet we have an inbuilt zealousness to education. I remember eating the fat leg of a well fed chicken on the night of the day i presented my Jamb results to my mother, I haven't seen that smile and look of satisfaction on my father's face like I did that night, it was mind soothing and satisfying to experience that expression of satisfaction on the faces of my parents.

Computer has done more harm than good to our dear Nigerian youths to a larger extent because instead of being an avenue to develop prospective developer, tech expert, programmers, coding specialist among others, it has been an avenue for accidental forbes wannabe millionaires and stinkingly rich wretched money bags. I watched a video of boys less than 15yrs migrating from Delta to Edo or so to meet a boss who would prospectively show them the way to break the records of an overnight Billionaire before age 18. We are absolutely sitting on a time bomb with the trigger in the hands of majority of our youths roaming our streets on a daily basis, a ill-educated society is a potential war front.

Take India and china for example, in the Western theory, China and India belong respectively to the second and third worlds, but in Mao's theory both China and India are part of the Third World which he defined as consisting of exploited nations but today Indian and China massive and robust investment in education has made them to be a producer of the best sort after tech experts among the top tech companies around the world from Microsoft to Google to Meta and a whole lot of them and they have systematically with their industrial revolution backed up my massive investment in education moved from a third world country to a First and Second world country respectively.

Figure of speech sounds like a diviner chant, incantation and balderdash to their hearing, superior arguments and discuss to them is like pouring a cup of grain to a bucket of water. I most times wonder and question why our graduates are required to have a Test of English Language by English speaking country who I believe can understand whatever we speak in English language before they can further their education im their higher institution.
I criticise and have a bias opinion on the requirements of those countries without knowing that I wasn't being equitable with the truth and my judgement is laced with bias and patriotism to my country. A Corp member who doesn't know the meaning of NYSC, an accounting graduate that doesn't understand the rule of double entry, a graduate of Education in biology that doesn't know Amoeba and Osmosis.

Oh my dear country how the mighty has fallen, a country where an average youth can tell you the winner of every year BBN winner but can't recite state and capital, I recently saw a video of a core member that doesn't know how many quarters we have in a year, another can't grasp the riddle of half a dozen and half a score. The fundamental problem of our Education system is from the foundation as well as pressure from parents of this Era. Majority of the male child who are supposed to be under the care of the parents are now mostly the bread winners, parents don't care where the money comes from nor do they care to ask how their child with 4 jeans and 4 shirts becomes an overnight benz owner. The educational systems on the other hand do a paradigm of garbage in garbage out because a lot of our educational instructors and tutors do it not for the love of the job but for survival sake.

The government also have a hand in this deterioration in our educational systems as a result of their nonchalant attitudes to the plight of instructors and tutors, lack of adequate investment in facilities and infrastructures needed for a robust and comprehensive educational system and learning environment. A literate country is bound to reach its full potential as a nation in no time.

Our youth are the hope of this nation and without a well grounded education, our hope in them will be a useless hope. Education is the Key but remember a ill-educated country is a potential war front.
