Abuja – News just reaching us reveals that Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has been invited by the SSS to answer questions relating to his recent appointments of Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants to Special Assistants.

Unconfirmed reports also indicate that the Governor has since employed a Special Assistant on SSS affairs to advice him on how to respond to the invitation.

According to sources, the invitation may not be unconnected with the heightened state of security in the nation and the recent pronouncements by one Pastor Bakare who predicted that a dictator will emerge and snatch the reins of power from timid ruler GEJ.

In this current climate of fear and paranoia created by Bakare’s prediction, Governors, Vice Presidents, and Military Heads have been guarding their words and watching there actions so as not to appear to be the coming dictator.

They have devoted more time and energy to big-stouting and pepper-souping, overseas shopping junkets, awarding of contracts and accumulation of newer, younger female friends, all to demonstrate that it’s business as usual and they are not planning a coup d'état.

Gov Okorocha, however, seems not to have read the memo and his actions have now attracted the attention of the nation’s security machinery.

Specifically, the SSS are interested in knowing why he has a SA Lagos affairs, and if this is indicative of a secret alliance between Imo state and Lagos state in a plot to overthrow the federal government.

The sheer number of special assistants is also seen as a blatant in-your-face gesture meant to undermine the supremacy of the president who has far fewer SAs.

Also, since the Imo State treasury is empty, (according to the Governor), the SSS suspect that he may be planning to illegaly print money to pay the salaries, allowances, and expenses of the newly appointed SAs.

If it however turns out that he intends to pay them out of his own pocket (being that he’s already a billionaire), this would also constitute a security risk as it will set a dangerous precedence that will be unfair to other state governors such as Adams Oshimole of Edo State and Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State.

After the SSS are done with him, a joint select-committee of both houses also wants to question him on his need for so many SAs.

On the advice of the National Security Adviser, they will be seeking reassurances from him that he is not altogether incompetent in all areas thereby needing other people to cover his inadequacies as a state’s Chief Executive.
