ASUU Strike: JAMB Says Admission Has Not Been Canceled; The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, declared yesterday that no admissions to universities, polytechnics, or institutions of education had been halted or postponed as a result of the protracted strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU

JOINT ADMISSIONS AND MATRICULATION BOARD (JAMB) HASN’T CANCELLED ANY ADMISSION.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, declared yesterday that the ASUU strike had not affected admissions to universities, polytechnics, or institutes of education.
According to JAMB, “No admission has been canceled for any session or institution except by the senate of that institution. We have all admissions for 2020/2021, 2021/2022, and 2022/2023 sessions, and they will not expire. It is now up to the universities to decide which and how to go about it.”
Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB, stated this prior to the start of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU, meeting in Abuja.

According to Prof. Oloyede and others, “the duty for admitting students falls with the respective schools.” JAMB serves as a coordination hub. JAMB cannot and will not determine an institution’s calendar. You are aware that universities and specialized institutes are still in the 2020/21 academic year. Some are enrolled in the academic year 2021/2022, while others are enrolled in the academic year 2022/2023. There are now three academic periods in session at universities around the country. Candidates should check with their individual institutions to discover whether sessions are open.

“No admission has been canceled for any session or university unless the senate of that institution states so.” All admissions for these three sessions have not lapsed and will not lapse, and the institutions must now select which and how to proceed.”
