It happened around the first week of January 2022. I was driving uphill on a freezing Sunday morning. My car (Honda) got stuck at the hill's peak and could not move further. The vehicle was moving backward, but I kept it steady on the hill. I was confused because it is a small town in the US. I called 911, police officers came, and the road management team poured sand and salt to melt the ice; the police officers went ahead to stop all the vehicles so that I could drive out of the site. The police officer was so respectful and willing to do anything for me. America ooooo

I was in Maputo, Mozambique one hot afternoon. Dropped my car off at a car wash and strolled to the water front a few meters away. Two policemen stopped me and demanded for my passport which was inside the car. I asked that they follow me to the carwash but they refused claiming passports should be presented on demand. They insisted I provide it there and then or follow them to their station.

Luckily I called my girlfriend who had traced me to the carwash and she brought the passport.

How's that country like?

Poor. They have a European flavour though, Portuguese specifically. More organized than Nigeria. There are more high rise apartment buildings in Maputo alone than in Lagos. I was at the beach there in 2008 and a cd music hawker was blasting 2Baba's African Queen. Night life is good with good hotels. It's an expensive city ironically.
