It's the successive leaders of the NDDC and some Niger Delta States that have really personifed the true meaning of putting their people and state in their pockets.
When a leader puts the resources of his state and people in his/her pocket, there will never be any development in that place, that's why NDDC hasn't had anything to show for the trillions of naira they have received in the space of 21 years.

This fraud is not the monumental tragedy here. It is the shocking permissive acceptance of such level of graft by almost all the stakeholders.

Some may even want to protect their "brother".

If the people came out in full force demanding for the past head of the NDDC and all his associated crooks, the next board will sit up. Accountability should be demanded.

I am sure many monarchs, chiefs and other elites were part and parcel of the sleaze. "Something for the boys" to everybody down the chain. A contract worth 100m is ballooned to 600m to accomodate everybody's cut with due process thrown out.

The high level of kleptocracy in the Niger Delta has led to the masses no longer demanding for resource control. "If their leaders can't be faithful with what is little, how can they be faithful with wihat is much?" they ask?
