SOME USEFUL RESOURCES (VIDEOS) ON SETS THEORY

Below, I collected some essential resources (videos) on Sets Theory in English and Yoruba language for the benefit of High school, college and first year University students.

What's "Sets"?

The topic “Sets” is very important in mathematics. Since the first part of the twentieth century, it has been the standard method for providing rigorous foundations for all fields of mathematics (Halmos, 1960). In mathematics, a set is a collection of different objects that constitute a group. A set can include any form of group of elements, such as a collection of numbers, days of the week, car types, and so on. Every item in the set is referred to as a set element. When writing a set, curly brackets are utilized. A basic example of a set might be as follows. Set A = {1,2,3,4,5}. A set's elements can be represented in a variety of ways. A roster or set builder form is commonly used to represent sets. (Cue Maths). A set is a collection of definite, distinct things of human vision or cognition that are called set elements(members) (Wikipedia).

Resources from Math with Lukgaf (a Youtube channel explaining Mathematics in Yoruba and English)

Below are some videos from “Math with Lukgaf”, easily demystifying some topics in Sets.

Sets 1 - Introduction, examples, descriptions, and types

“In this video, I briefly described sets, elements, and types of sets such as finite, infinite sets, empty sets, and singleton. Also, I explained some of the ways you can describe sets e.g by listing (tabular), words, and set builder notation.”
English:

Yoruba:

Sets 2 - Power set: Subsets and power set (how to conveniently obtain elements of a power set)

“I explained what a power set means. In the first part of the video, I briefly described a set, subset, cardinality, empty set, and singleton set and gave types of subsets. From the idea of subsets, I explained a power set and how you can conveniently obtain the power set of a set with cardinality 2, and above.”

Set 3 - Power set of a set with 5 elements

“Following the previous video on subsets and power sets, I obtained the power set of a set A ={a,b,c,d,e}.”

English:

Yoruba:

Sets 4 - Terms used in Sets

“In this video, I explained some terms used in sets such as the cardinality of a set, universal set, union and intersection, complement of a set, disjoint sets, the difference of sets, etc. Also, I explained some of the properties of union and intersection, such as De morgan's theorem.”

English:

Yoruba:

Sets 5 - more examples on Sets

“In this video, I gave more examples on sets such as finding the union, intersection, complement, and attempting sets problems involving a set builder notation”

English:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmAKPfoEXN4
Yoruba:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiufIEvYeAA

Sets 6 - Two Venn diagrams and applications to real-life problems
.

“In this video, I explain, in an interesting way, how to use two Venn diagrams to solve real-life problems involving two sets.”
English:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asTmcG0VxPo
Yoruba:
