Raman Abass popularly known as Hushpuppi has been sentenced to 11 years and three months imprisonment by the United States District Court sitting Central District of California for a money laundering conspiracy of millions of dollars through several online scams.

Justice Otis Wright II, who delivered the judgment yesterday, found Hushpuppi guilty of laundering proceeds of a school financing scam, business email compromise fraud and other cyber schemes

The judgment was delivered by Justice Otis Wright II, on Monday, and it found Hushpuppi guilty of the allegations including laundering proceeds of a school financing scam, business email compromise and other fraudulent cyber schemes levied against him.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that Hushpuppi’s verified Instagram account was deactivated by Meta, the parent body of the social media platform where he (Hushpuppi) is known to spend most of his time showing off his affluence.

Recall that Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in June 2020 and was extradited to the United States on July 3. He was arrested for defrauding over 1.9 million people, the majority of them being Americans.

Meanwhile, the 37 years old had pleaded guilty to the charges filed against him.

However, this judgment is the end of Hushpuppi’s trial since his arrest in June 2020 at his Dubai hotel apartment.

The sentence would have been more if not for plea bargain and he showed repentance and willingness to make restitution, that was what made the judge lenient. Abba Kyari is a lucky dude, the govt will keep dribling Nigerians that he is under "prosecution' and at the end of the day the matter will end like that of sambo dasuki whose case Nigerians don't hear about anymore.

Unfortunate but I pray that he turns around and become a better person at the end of the day IJN
