In as much as I fully accept the premise that the Nigerian police force is staffed by largely corrupt police officers, I still find it difficult to accept the suggestion that the police force may on a national level be complicit in the kidnapping of motorists that has now spread from the north to the east and now to the west of the nation.

Certainly, there is a place for a well-armed vigilante or civilian militia to confront the kidnap menace, but I still retain the opinion that the police force still contains a few "good eggs" among the majority that are rotten to the core, and that by paying the usual "mobilization fee" to those good officers can have its benefits in a general sense, if you know what I mean.
