Soludo is just a funny dude. How come he didn't mention the N4.4billion Peter Obi invested in Orient Petroleum that made Anambra state an Oil producing state?

Anambra Invests N4bn in Oil Firm

Anambra state said it has so far invested a total of N4 billion in the the Orient Petroleum Resources, a company jointly owned by the state with some private indidvidauls. This follows the presentation of cheque of N500million naira to the company weekend, by Governor Peter Obi.

Obi said the gesture was in line with his administration's policy to invest five to ten percent of the state Annual Budget on projects for sustainable future development. Governor Obi restated the Government's commitment to support Orient Petroleum to actualize the project and became first private refinery in the country.

Anambra set to join oil producing states

The Anambra state government, in eastern Nigeria, has completed its Orient Petroleum Resources Plc drilling lines and support equipment for commercial drilling of hydrocarbon, an official has said.

Mr Valentine Obienyem, Senior Special Adviser on Media to Governor Peter Obi , made the announcement in Onitsha, Anambra, on Tuesday.

Obienyem said that President Goodluck Jonathan would inaugurate the commercial drilling on 30 August at Aguleri Otu in Anambra East LGA.

He said the drilling environment had conformed to international standards.

“Orient Petroleum service contractor has acquired high resolution 3D seismic data over 640 square kilometers of Orient’s oil blocks OPL 915 & 916, which has delineated the full extent of the hydrocarbon discoveries and prospects.

Anambra woman declared wanted over missing 16-year-old mother, baby
“The state government has completed a 20-kilometre access road to the oil wells and the 10-kilometre flow line for evacuating crude to a spot on Anambra River from where evacuation will be undertaken by barges to Brass in Bayelsa.

“Anambra will soon join the club of oil producing states in the country,’’ he said.

The governor’s aide said the state-owned company had equally finalised the detailed engineering and sourced the modules for its 55,000 bpd refinery.

According to NAN, the company had completed the geo-technical, geological, hydro-geological surveys and civil engineering works for the installation of the refinery equipment.

It has also acquired seven hectares of land for the establishment of depot for distribution of petroleum products from the refinery.

Excitement as Orient Petroleum Strikes Oil in Anambra

WHAT the people of Anambra State had been clamouring for over the years is about to happen and that is that the state will soon be included among the oil producing states in the country with its attendant benefits. Though the Anambra River basin was known to be rich in crude oil and gas deposits, it was placed on what was described in the industry, as strategic reserve.

However, following the efforts of notable persons from the state who are stakeholders in the Orient Petroleum Resources Plc, the company prospecting for oil in the area and with the support of the present administration led by Governor Peter Obi, a major breakthrough in making Anambra an oil producing state has been achieved.

13% Derivation: We received N268m as first payment, says Anambra government
Charles Soludo, Anambra state governor

The Anambra government says it received N268.2 million as its first share of the 13 percent derivation fund.

Ifeatu Onejeme, the state commissioner for finance, said this in a statement issued on Thursday.

The 13 percent derivation fund comes from the federation revenue to oil-producing communities through the state governments as enshrined in section 162, sub-section 2 of the Nigerian Constitution.

TheCable had reported that Anambra officially joined the list of oil-producing states in Nigeria in July 2021.

Onojeme said the statement became necessary to clear the air on the discordant figures being peddled in the media about the amount received by the state from the derivation fund.

“The attention of Anambra state government has been drawn by well-meaning Ndi Anambra and fellow Nigerians to several false and misleading stories circulating on some social and online media platforms about the 13% oil mineral derivation revenue received by the state,” the statement reads.

“This press release is deemed necessary in the public interest, in the spirit of full disclosure and in line with our principle of transparency, to address the deliberate misinformation and provide Ndi Anambra and the general public with the correct state of affairs.

“The proviso to S.162(2) of the 1999 constitution (as amended) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria provides that the principle of derivation shall be constantly reflected in any approved formula determined by the national assembly for revenue allocation from the federation account and such derivation shall not be less than thirteen percent of the revenue accruing to the federation directly from any natural resources.

“Following a decade of hard work by industry experts from Anambra state in collaboration with past administrations, Anambra State was officially recognised as a petroleum-bearing and oil-producing State on July 27, 2021, by the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission at its 139th plenary session held on that date.

“The current administration of Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, took up the mantle from there with massive follow-up and collaborative initiatives with relevant federal government Agencies to achieve the eventual implementation of the decision.

“Anambra state officially started receiving mineral derivation revenue from the federation account in July 2022 with the first net receipt of N268,232,939.16 (Two Hundred and Sixty-Eight Million, Two Hundred and Thirty-Two Thousand Nine Hundred and Thirty-Nine Naira and Sixteen Kobo only).”

He urged the people of Anambra and the general public to disregard any other information about the amount of mineral derivation revenue received by the state.

Soludo recently received 13% derivation as governor, after much was invested by his predecessor Peter Obi. While come on TV and say trash? Is he this pained about Obi's growing popularity or trying to play the ostrich?

Obi has been saying he only owns two houses, one in Onitsha GRA and another in his village in same Anambra.

What is this story I am now hearing that Obi bought a house in London in his mid 30's?

Can any of you Zombidients verify this for me?

Soludo and Obi have always had a sort of elite clashes in Anambra politics over the years. Anambrarians know this. Forget the show of "love" before the cameras, they seldom see eye to eye politically. This was the reason Obi bypassed him to make Obiano his successor. Soludo has never forgiven Obi since then.. He somehow feels that Obi played him on that since he thought that due to his pedigree, the governorship should have been given to him on a platter..., especially since he didn't mess up Obis Banks during the "Bank Consolidation exercise" under Obasanjo when he was the finance minister.

Soludo has a huge ego! That is his main Achilles heel. He fought mercilessly with Dora akunyili too. It was all about his domineering habit of thinking himself to be the most erudite in every gathering. He thinks he knows more than everyone. He has never been into business and he is lecturing a very successful business man on investments. Take a look at Obis investments as an entrepreneur over the years and take a look at Soludos non existent business life and tell me who should educate who as it regards Nigerias business environment amongst the two.
