Brazil defender Marquinhos was rested for Paris Saint-Germain's final match ahead of the World Cup in Qatar due to muscle discomfort.

French league leaders PSG said on Saturday their captain Marquinhos, a key player in coach Tite's Brazilian side and has made 71 international appearances, will be excluded when face Auxerre on Sunday.

But Argentine star Lionel Messi, French striker Kylian Mbappe and Brazil's Neymar will feature in PSG's squad before flying to Qatar.

Messi missed last weekend's game against Lorient with Achilles tendonitis, while centre-back Presnel Kimpembe rested with a similar problem. Mbappe also passed away in a state of muscle fatigue. Kimpembe, who has only played an hour of football since injuring his hamstring on September 18, is also part of coach Christophe Galtier's squad for the match against Auxerre.

Kimpembe then flew away to join his teammates from France to Qatar.
