Napata77:

That an African is quoting ''ENGLISH MISSIONARIES'' - the very same people that came to rape, loot, brutalize, and destroy his land to benefit their economy, is 'QUOTING' their utterances as 'evidence' for the 'barbarism' of his fellow Africans, shows the depressing, disgusting, dehumanising level of colonial brainwashing this generation has been subjected to.

Utterly disgusting.

Oh, so what would the English missionary have said before?

''Oh, these are a very civilized people who abhor crimes and live in cleanliness etc etc'', to which the obvious question would be ''so why did you attack and invade them then?''

SO OF COURSE THEY WOULD CLAIM YOU WERE BARBARIC AND UNCIVILIZED AND NEEDED THEM TO SAVE YOU, TO JUSTIFY THEIR CRIMINAL INVASION OF YOUR TERRITORY, AND THE MASS SLAUGHTER OF YOUR ANCESTORS.

THEY DO THE SAME THING TODAY TO COUNTRIES THEY WISH TO LOOT and INVADE, FROM IRAQ TO LIBYA TO AFGHANISTAN TO VIETNAM TO ZIMBABWE TO CUBA TO CHINA.

DEMONISE YOU AND CLAIM YOU ARE WORSE THAN SATAN, THEN THEY INVADE..

SAME METHODS THEY'VE USED RIGHT FROM THE ROMAN EMPIRE.

ONLY THE ACTORS HAVE CHANGED. THE METHODS REMAIN THE SAME.

Be grateful for once , you pygmy Jew.

If not for Lugard who held your ancestors like traumatized children out of their dark enclaves, you will still be running buttnaked in your cursed land from slave raiders and cannibals alike.

Be grateful.

Hilarious, which other groups are so obsessed with Igbos that they would spend time hunting the internet for photos of scantily clad men, you take a guess grin

Anyways OP, those men are dancers, and dancers historically were generally scantily clad, much like swimmers or really any other high-performance art. Just in case you were looking to scour the internet for more photos of male dancers wearing little clothing. Haha.

Yeah right.

Male strippers abi.

Try another one.

Lest you will compare your buttnaked history to the Greek athletes who competed stark n@ked.

Ok, so you are not completely hopeless.

You can clearly see in the background the crowds wearing the general Igbo clothing of long skirts and scarves. These young men in the foreground obviously participating in some sort of some sort of sport, hence their attire. Unlike the Greeks, the Igbos didn't go completely naked.

Again, like stated previously you have just started an entire thread of a photo of a couple of young male athletes, most likely dancers, wearing period-typical clothing. I am unsure what exactly the point of this thread is, but this your obsession with Igbos is getting out of hand.

This is childishness. The op is highlighting what happened in the western world in comparison to the people in the picture. Question number one:. Why compare Igbos with the west and not with their fellow Africans of that time?
two:. Why the fuse about two men in traditional underpants when those at the background were completely dressed?
three: Did the west not start that way themselves?

I even heard from a reliable source that a prominent OBA has placed his palace for sale, after marrying more wives (including igbo damsels) than his purse can handle......tell me what fate awaits his predesesors when they're exhumed and burnt ?.

And he will still use the proceeds from the sale of his palace to marry more wives. At the end of the day a whole Oba will have no choice but to rent one face-me I-slap you somewhere in Ajegunle.

Look all through history and you will see examples of the bogus comparisons that this goat makes between Igbo people and the west. Example, Germans were still dwelling in caves when the Colossus was built in Athens, the important question is "Where are the Germans now?". Aqueducts littered the Roman empire when a Roman army crossed into Britain to find the forest dwelling Brigante, where are the English now compared to the Romans(Italians)? Knowledge and information reaches a people at different times in history, it is what they do with it that counts and only fools and losers like the OP perpetually dwell in the past, because back then they were owners of their own soil and frequently feel the need to hide in this forgotten memory to placate their anguish from the knowledge that those very soils that were once theirs are now owned by Igbo men.

Things fall apart remains fiction and Achebe is considered only as a fiction story teller and not a Historian.
because white people said it's fiction, this it's fiction for you.
You are not capable of independent reasoning.
Unless you ain't Igbo, okonkwo as a young man from poor background rose to prominence through hardwork.
And later got himself a title unlike his father who died without title.
That is the real situation of the Igbo social ladder,my dad is a primary school certificate holder.
I am an engineer today.
If you can't relate things fall apart with Igbo society,it is because you ain't Igbo and hatred have blinded you but the Igbo race is so great that the British acknowledged their greatness and concluded that "these people are a threat to her majesty's project Nigeria"
Ask yourself, what do British mean by "project Nigeria"
That is if you are capable of independent thinking

This is freaking 1920's for God's sake .

That man in the picture is somebody's great grand father who is now claiming they own Lagos .

And so what does it matter? All tribes in nigeria where once very primitive before the white men came to bring them to civilization including even ur own tribe. Igbos have never claimed to own lagos stop taking what some so called igbos write here seriously.

This is 1920's we are talking about here.

There are people who were born then that are still alive .

This was the time Henry Ford rolled out his model T cars from his mega factory .

The Titanic had been built and sunk before this photo was taken.

Modern medicine had become well established .

The great depression coincided with this photo.

Advancement in Science, literature and Engineering was witnessing a Renaissance moment.

HG Wells had published his classic futuristic novels predicting of future scientific marvels.

The Empire State building was being built .

Air travel was the new thing

The industrial revolution was on an unstoppable breakneck speed .

But meanwhile in Alaigbo.....

Wow looks so much like Hermes of Big brother naija!!
