Oh, please I could ask you the same how were we manage to be made out of mud and how is it possible that the bible says the world is 6000 years or so old and how is it possible that carbon dating can date 1000s of years past that? And how was it possible for Noah to go around the world and pick out a male and female of each animal and bring them all back to his ark? Did he leave the dinosaurs behind(Is that why they became extinct) or brought them in the ark? I want to know how black, white and others came about? The curse of Ham? sexkillz:Typo* I want you to go to your local library or google and type in intelligent design and read. |

@harakiri it seems to me we have very similar questions about God.i sked myself why God created the devil and then had to wage war against him.its kinda confusing how cain got to have a wife, same as seth when Dam wasnt recorded as having daughters. Genesis 1:1 says in the beginning God creted the heaven and the earth 1:2 and the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep this account of genesis indicates that an earth was created which was destroyed before the creation of this earth we live in. My question is what destroyed that earth? Theologians say it ws the casting down of the devil and his angels that destroyed the first earth. Another question:God spoke the world into being according to the bible, why then didnt he speak the devil into submission? Like i said earlier, there are more questions than answers.at a point,i lost my belief in God but then i asked myself some questions 1. Is there ny evidence in my life to suggest that when i pray to "my God",he responds? 2. Wht do i have to lose by believing in God? Then i became a passive christian and along the line i became more active.the questions i used to ask havent been erased from my mind and i must confess it takes a lot of faith or insanity to believe in a "God" who is invisible nd whose only pointer to existence lies in "holy books" conjured by biased minds.however i have a better life as a result of my decision this is not to imply that i will insist that you must believe in my God.we must all find our own path.my own God might be a bearded man in the sky, yours might be music, poetry, electricity, scienttology or whatever it is that gives you fulfilment. @religous folks its imperative to understand tht in one way or the other, religion has accounted for most of the wars, problems the world has had.attempts to islamise the world by the caliphate under Ali led to wars, lter the crusaders went about their own killings and pillaging.queen isabella expelled all muslims from spain in the in the 17th century and up till this day religion remains the culprit for terrorism, wars etc even israel which is supposed to be God's own nation has waged senseless cold and actual wars over lands that were supposedly given to their forefathers i.e. Abraham.now tellme if that makes any sense.al qaeda,al-shabbab,boko haram are all products of religion, some might say their religious views are distorted, but the fact is they wage this wars in the name of the God who is up in the sky.my mind and i must confess it takes a lot of faith or insanity to believe in a "God" who is invisible nd whose only pointer to existence lies in "holy books" conjured by biased minds.however i have a better life as a result of my decision this is not to imply that i will insist that you must believe in my God.we must all find our own path.my own God might be a bearded man in the sky, yours might be music, poetry, electricity, scienttology or whatever it is that gives you fulfilment. Abraham.now tellme if that makes any sense.al qaeda,al-shabbab,boko haram are all products of religion, some might say their religious views are distorted, but the fact is they wage this wars in the name of the God who is up in the sky. |

I have hundreds of friends whom are atheists(most of 'em are british though), 1 of them told me he's only been in a church once, and that was when he got married(25 years ago i wasn't even born then) Another told me he simply got fed up of being driven to church every sunday by his parents for endless years without receiving a life-changing "miracle" from the so-called and highly revered God. A major percentage of those I KNOW don't believe in God not cuz of Science or some random theorems of evolution, not even because of Scientific LOGIC,but that's not a generalization cuz the ones i know are only a minute fraction of others.#FACT Some became atheists cuz they had a innate drive to rebel against anything others see as the "norm", Some did cuz they wanted to look and sound super-intelligent and positively different, Some did cuz they wanted to be noticed, Some did cuz they were frustrated, bewildered and angry about the perceived lack of "natural" Justice in every facet of human life, Some did cuz they were very inquisitive and wanted everything to be Black or white, Some even belonged to different factions,i never knew Atheists had groups and various factions with slightly varied views. The summary of what i think is that an awful lot of Atheists or wannabes DO NOT know the certain origin of life, and they don't care to know or they don't want to believe it cuz the most articulate story of the Origin of life known to man is in the Bible and the Quran. I guess i was lucky i wasn't "driven" to believe in God by my parents, they gave me the freewill to choose my beliefs(which is rare), and i came to believe in not just the existence of a Super-all knowing God,but i found how to speak to him,he listens and he DOES respond with mind-boggling speed, accuracy and efficiency in mind and in deed(Nobody else has to believe that to make it a fact to me). Chart your own course to where your mind finds hospitality and acceptance. Atheists can believe whatever they wanna. |

Re: What Is The Origin Of Life? (Atheists) by Delafruita(m): 2:23pm On Aug 25, 2011 |
@kandiikane at no point did the bible state that the world is 6000+ years old.like i said in an earlier post careful study of genesis 1:1-2 indicates that a timeline exists. Genesis 1:1 in the beginning,God created the heaven and the earth Genesis 1:2 and the erth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep this clearly indicates than an earth was first created, which became without form and void.theologians say this destruction was caused by the casting down of the devil and his angels. |

Sexkill dear like i have said u have done the rightful thing for starting this conversation. . .I read your respond to my first post saying this place is only for the ATHEIST , i should agree with u half way , normally , the Atheist and theist in the house have to share their own view on how they've understood the origin of life--- I also read the respond of one Christian poster to me here but because i was too busy i was unable to quote he's comment . but i got his words like i didn't make the point and wanna know if what i have type is from my biology department at school . Sexkill , honestly speaking i promise that this issue in thread would take us to a very high level after sharing with each other our knowledge on this issue of the origin of life. like me ,i started my life as THEIST i.e as a Christian that doesn't even know the truth about the origin of life . You quit know that 99 % of the Christians in the entire World does not really know the ORIGIN of Christianity or the GOD they've been serving . they only helped the religion by writing a mind stirring book ( Bible ) to keep man from the truth and blindfold the realities of life . LATER , i discovered that been a THEIST is the Wrong path to follow as i allow the free-thinking of my sensible brain to get at work , i became ATHEIST before later i chose the Atheistic Satanism and that's the only way to justify how other Religions have lied against the name of the innocent Satan just to promote the name of their Unknown God hiding somewhere above the sky. I am an Satanist and I am frequently writing quotes about religion. I never attacked anyone for having a different belief. This MAN we are both in same SOCIAL CLUB ,he claims to be a Christian attacked me (on a website) and told me that I have no idea what I am talking about and that basically I am ignorant . he has never had a philosophical conversation with me and so he has no idea what my beliefs are--but claims to know almost everything ! lol . I don't understand why he chose to suddenly attack me and for that reason I would like to know more about his religion so I can maybe understand why he said what he did. I would like to know about their beliefs, their morals, and if they are the type to attack others for their beliefs. Thank you |

@Konjour, Really, he speaks to you? What does he say? What does it sound like so I too can listen when he speaks? Delafruita:This was not in the bible either but it is been said . Theologists also refer to the earth been 6000 years plus from the beginning to the end. Actually, what I read ages ago was that the earth was first created with a different specie of beings but then destroyed for whatever reason. . I am sure if you google it you did find something. . |

Hello my fellow people of NAIRALAND , been so long i wanted this kind of discussion-- at first this kind of thread was raised but didn't last because some sad Christians notice i am a Biologist and as such will argue for decent with modification; evolution . This is a "meta-fact" supported to the point of certainty . The only space for a question is natural selection and competition as the driving force. Life appears driven to self-organize into more complex structures of its own volition as well, thus explaining original biogenesis and the foundation of Darwinian selection. I absolutely believe that this "vital force" works subtly along side natural selection and also gives rise to it. Synthetic biology is wonderful, but it will not inform on the subject of "spirit", because it is synthetic. When man creates life synthetically (and it will happen, be sure), it will have been coaxed into doing so under labortory conditions and so will not be proof of spontaneous biogenesis. Even if the right chemicals under the right conditions will "spontaneously" arise life, that does not mean it happened that way, nor that an unseen force did not intend or spur it on. Bottom line is that if you can drop strict, narrow-minded, antiquated bible adherence (ever heard of allegories. . . . huh ?) then the spiritual realm becomes more intelligent, vast and beautify, . . . And can walk hand in hand with science as the tool through which it manifests reality. |

How did these first cells become life as we know it today? You may say they evolved, and you would probably correct. But what is Evolution? in a nutshell, it is a theory that many different forms of one species are created, but only the ones with advantages survive to reproduce, and spread these advantages. These advantages could include better camouflage, more strength, better eyesight, and so forth. Slowly, over many generations, the simple single-celled life forms, evolved into more and more complex multiple-celled organisms, adapting to the changing environment of the earth. Past life is often referred to being a part of a certain era, or a certain point on the geological timescale. There are 6 eras on the geological timescale, consisting of the Hadean, Archaean, Protezoic, Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and the Cenozoic. these I'll find time to explain one by one and i believe some things would be made clear and open ! @ibro saunks, Since you're pushing it, how is allah? How did he/her/it come to being? How come he supposedly appeared to the middle easterners and the only way Islam came to your people was when the arab slave capturers came to plunder and kidnap your forefathers? How come you'all have to go mecca to worshop a stone called the kabba whereas your allah is supposed to be omnipresent? Why do you use "tesbi" (which is a photocopy of the christian rosary that existed long before Mohammed had delusions of grandeur?)? How come the people in the north screamed and ranted for sharia law so they could satisfy their bloof lust in stoning and decapitating "offenders" to death, meanwhile the big thiefs who commit every crime against the presumed allah are worshipped as gods? How come Arabs still look upon black african moslems as slaves and inferior (or do you think they respect you as an equal?)? Why do you talk about your religion as if you know jack about it? You might have been going to brainwashing sessions in arabic school from childhood but I definitely know a whole lot about your religion to sum at all as crap! If that makes you cry and want to tie a bomb around yourself and blow yourself up so you can inherit 7 under aged virgins in Aljannah, so be it. Just make sure you're at least 500feet away coz I'll take your head off with an auto pump before you even think about it. Religious Chumps! ! ! |

Hadean The Hadean era did not contain life as we know it, but rather the building blocks of life, such as amino acid, proteins and the like, mentioned previously. It lasted aproximatley from 3.8 to 4.5 billion years ago. |

Friend i just hope the reason you created this thread is to know the unknown and some of the opened things that others have misquotes as miseries . On my own investigating the origin of life and the simplest possible life forms, one needs to enquire about the composition and working of a minimal cell that has some form of metabolism, genetic replication from a template, and boundary (membrane) production. sexkillz: |

Re: What Is The Origin Of Life? (Atheists) by Ogaga4Luv(m): 3:42pm On Aug 25, 2011 |
When Darwin proposed the theory of evolution, he envisioned that the process was continuous. He believed that the complexity and diversity of life could be explained by numerous slight modifications to existing species. His whole theory hinges on the idea that nature will preserve beneficial variations (natural selection) and thereby guide evolution creating new and more complex animals and plants. |

You sound so interesting and i do not feel like ending this conversation with u friend. . . Basically, there are two approaches to the "minimal cell": the top-down and the bottom-up. The top-down approach aims at simplifying existing small organisms, possibly arriving at a minimal genome. Some research to this end takes Buchnera , a symbiotic bacterium that lives inside aphids, as a rewarding example. This analysis is complemented by an investigation of the duplication and divergence of genes. Remarkably, these approaches converged on the conclusion that genes dealing with RNA biosynthesis are absolutely indispensable in this framework. This may be linked to the idea of life's origins in an "RNA world", although such an inference is far from immediate. hope you are clear with that now ? sexkillz: |
