Over 133 million Nigerians are poor- FG Adeze Ojukwu Over 133 million Nigerians, representing about 63 percent are poor, according to latest National Bureau of Statistics reports. This pauperism is the major reason for rising hunger, death and social crises. This negative trend can be reversed, through a credible leadership and serious investments in agriculture, cottage industries and education and youth empowerment. Governments at all levels and relevant poverty alleviation agencies and NGOs must synergize and act fast to arrest this unfortunate emergency. As a result many citizens are hungry and dying from disease and malnutrition.
