I have seen alot of talk about crowd at rallies and it's significance to politics. I simply wish to give a first hand view based on my experience and I promise you, this is not a party slander.

I was highly involved in politics in those days and I can tell you for a fact, the simple tricks and treats, that politicians resorts to, to get people to attend rallies.

Let me use the just concluded Ebonyi rally for instance. Dave Umahi has SSAs, SAs, PA, Commissioners, LGA chairpersons, house of assembly members etc. All representatives of various parts of the state. All these people put together accounts for Atleast 100 political appointees and elected officials that answer to him, directly.

Now, Tinubu visits and Umahi wants to host him in 10,000 capacity venue. These 100 politicians are made to mobilize atleast 100 persons each. The breakdown is 5 buses, made up of 20 persons. A budget is released, say 100k per bus, including payment for hiring the bus and for each person to get 3k.

How many persons in Nigeria make 3k per day? In my days, we just put calls across to SUG Presidents and thats it. The rest of the crowd is made up women from villages who are mobilized through local govt channels.

So yes, it's all rented crowd and more than 80% don't know what is going on.

Take this experience for example. One day a top government official resigned and joined another party. I got a message to mobilize and be at govt house the next morning. I called my sure SUG plug and we gathered the next morning, others mobilized too. Few minutes later the governor addressed us, we got 5k each. Later that day, the news said "We were concerned citizens from various bodies and agencies in the state, who came on a solidarity visit, to thank the governor for his good works"

Very true.

Rented crowd consisting mostly of people without PVC.

Politicians involve in this crowd renting to play mind game and psychologically intimidate their opponents.

If you know how hard it is to get people to come for rally even by offering them money, you will understand why these are afraid of Obi.
