When you don't have the engine on, you can't shift from Park. Generally that's a good feature to have, but if you need to tow the vehicle due to a dead battery or an engine that can't start you want to shift to Neutral. Under that cover is a button you can push that'll release the gear shift even if the engine is off.  1 Like
