Olorogun Godwin Obire, from Agbarho Orhokpokpo is a seasoned politician, senior special assistant (SSA Political) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and former senior legislative aide to the deputy senate president. Ovie Omo Agege. In this interview, he states his desire to continue to stand for the people of Delta Central Senatorial District to ease their suffering through supporting of the best candidate to represent urhobo nation in the Senate.

Why do you say Amori is the best candidate and how are you prepared to deliver Ighoyota Amori?

Well, We am prepared very well. I am ready with our people to ensure that chief Ighoyota Amori win in all the eight local governments that make up Delta Central. We have map out the best strategy to capture every unit and ward in all the local governments in Delta Central Senatorial District and we are seriously committed to it as you can see in our ward to ward meetings/campaign

Amori was once in the Senate what do you think Amori will do differently this time around?

Yes, within the few months Amori stayed in the Senate, he made enormous impact. Amori started very well and our people who gave Amori the mandate know that he never disappointed them within the seven months he was there. Areas of Amori development blueprint which he started then, he will revisit them to see how the senate can implement some of them to improve the standard of our people. Specifically, Amori will look into how to revive some of our companies that have folded up, like the Delta Steel Company (DSC), Ovwian – Aladja, in Udu Local Government of Delta State and Sapele Sea Port, to create jobs for the people. Ighoyota Amori representation is for the people and he will do everything possible to ensure that they have the very best representation in the Senate. The people of Delta Central know the pedigree and past records of Ighoyota Amori when it comes to human capital development. Amori is not nepotistic like others, he will create inclusive leadership that will provide the enabling environment for local and small scale businesses to thrive. You know, one cannot do this without security. Amori will drive security by working with the state and Federal Government, to boost the confidence of the people in carrying out their daily activities.

Amori opponent in the All Progressives Congress (APC) is coming from a formidable background. Do you think Amori have what it will take to defeat him?

You are very funny that APC candidate is an alien we don't know him someone that can not speak our local dialect. How do you expect him to communicate with our people? as far urhobo is concern there's no comparison between Amori and anyone in the senatorial race. Amori having the pedigree to defeat anyone in the senatorial race is understatement. Amori has paid his dues in the Urhobo Project. The APC candidate is not a match, our people know what Amori can do if given the opportunity. The records are there for everyone to verify from the time Ighoyota Amori, was appointed as Commissioner of Education; Water Resources; Development; Political Adviser and Senior Political Adviser; Chairman, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency and other offices where he have served one way or the other. He believe in service delivery and putting the needs of the people first in all. I know there could be challenges. But, I am very sure and confident of victory for Ighoyota Amori at the end of the election because the people know Amori. I live and relate with them. It is interesting that this time around, there will be no rigging. The people have the constitutional power to choose and make the best choice and I do not think there is anyone more qualified than Amori to represent Delta Central at this very time. We are going into the election with the backing of the people who believe strongly in Ighoyota Amori, style of leadership. Educationally, morally, culturally and in terms of exposure. Amori have all the requisite knowledge and capacity, if the election will be fair, free and credible, which I believe INEC is doing everything possible to ensure the election meets acceptable standards.

Do you think that the Urhobo people can still trust Ighoyota Amori with their votes?

Yes, 100% for sure. Amori is our own. Amori don’t have questionable character that could lead to a breach of trust. Amori have always represented the interest of the people in every office and Amori will replicate the gesture of their magnanimity, if the mandate to represent Delta Central is given to him. Amori is a man who believes in the sustainability of our cultural heritage. Amori will continue to stand for the people by providing the best leadership that will ease the suffering and pains within the senatorial district.

What are some of the things that stand out for which the Urhobo people should cast their votes for Amori?

The Urhobo people knows Ighoyota Amori very well. His antecedent is like a picture. They are not hidden from all those who have lived or followed up with the political trends since 1999 till date. Amori records of good stewardship are there from the time he served as Commissioner for Education and Water Resources. Under Ighoyota Amori as Commissioner for Education, there was massive infrastructural transformation in the entire education and water resources sectors. Amori created four higher institutions, including three polytechnics and a College of Education. The bursary Delta students are enjoying today was a product of Ighoyota initiative and so many countless reformation in our education. I am very confident that no other candidate matches is antecedent. He have served our people as Political Adviser to Chief James Onanefe Ibori, Uduaghan and three National Chairman of PDP. He will continue to serve them in every opportunity or any capacity
