The boy has to be 18 yrs of age for the charge to stand, unless the law of that particular jurisdiction states otherwise. To the best of my knowledge, age of consent is 18 yrs for most states in Nigeria. The journalism is poor. Have never heard of statutory rape in Nigeria, what we have is defilement in criminal code.
