P0117 - Engine Coolant Temperature Low input
Symptoms - Low fuel economy, Black Smoke and trouble re-starting at normal operating temperature.
Recommendation - CTS stuck on a particular temperature, after live data test. CTS tested with ohmmeter and found to be reading below normal resistance levels. Therefore coolant temperature sensor replaced and problem solved.
Location - CTS located on the engine usually close to the thermostat housing.
NB: The CTS could still be faulty even if the Check Engine Light (CEL) does not come on, as long as the above symptoms are noticed.
