Many State varsities in the south have been paying up to these range of fees.
The varsities should be able to fund itselves from the money generated after befitting facilities might have been built and handed over to them.

The moment we realize that university education isn't cheap, the better for us.....university education isn't compulsory and shouldn't be for everyone.

Somebody goes to university almost free for 4 years to study accounting and after graduation ends up emigrating out of the country or even ends up being a fashion designer or comedian.....that is a total waste of government resources, same person will come out after being trained by same govt and ask government to be providing jobs for him.

Now students will understand why ASUU has been fighting for their academics. Reduced school fees, enhanced study environment and good renumerations has been the major reasons that ASUU has been fighting for. Now this devilish APC government has told ASUU that the only way for them to give academic staff good renumerations and enhanced education is by increasing the school fees. With the collapse of the last strike, it's going to be terrible for students. Your school fees are going to the moon now. The truth is that the directive is coming from minister of education approved by president Buhari. So the VCs are incapacitated hence must carry out the directives.
With the IPPIS issues, the university autonomy is gone. I will suggest that the students should take their anger to ministry of education and aso rock.
ASUU should Bleep off with their selfish fight... Any small thing ASUU is fighting fighting for who??

How can I pay 85k in a federal university...that is madness.
Pls if u are a UNN student..don't create that invoice yet.
No single Fed school in the North is paying above 50k as school fees.... why's Charles igwe want to finish Us in UNN...is it a crime to attend a fed uni in Igbo land
100% increment is just too much...and it's not as if standard of living, administration or lectures is going to change.

Some people just say wrong statistics very confidently..
That no fed school in the North pay above 50k as school fees

This is a direct consequence of the failure of government to yield to ASUU's demands. Finally, students will bear the brunt of funding tertiary education in Nigeria.

We need to realize that we are no longer in the 90s. Paying 120k per session isn't too outrageous for a medical student. If you think Education is costly, try ignorance

The problem with this statement is that ignorance doesn't just affect an individual, it throws a whole nation into darkness.

Just imagine if Nigerians are 80% literate and academically sound.

Education has gone beyond an individual will and if in a nation, the people have no desire for education, the government there should be worried. Some states are easy to govern in Nigeria. Why is it so? A large part of their population are educated.

These fees are reasonable

85k is just a little more than 100 Dollars and that’s way cheaper than many other climes
Are you minding them? If they don't want to attend they should give chance for those willing to pay. Imagine 120k for law, 100k or so for medicine etc some courses sef 85k in a whole federal university!
Those paying 2.4m for law and 5m for medicine nko in private universities, wount it be a thing of joy if they are told to pay eg 500k in federal uni?

No wonder employers are comfortable paying peanuts as salary to University graduates.

Nigerians are actually studying for free. 120k per session for Medical school? This is one thing to commend the government for.

People spend millions of naira per semester to acquire same degree.

How most people are saying the increment is still cheap still baffles me. Maybe y'all are from well to do homes. Bear it in mind that most students in Federal schools come from poor or struggling middle class homes. Where are their parents going to get the money from?. Is it with the miserable minimum wage FG is paying them. Many students even sponsor themselves while at school.
Supporters of this especially those ones that equalled the fees to how much it is in dollars, should please open a gofundme account to sponsor some of the students affected since you all can comfortably afford 125 dollars.

It's the way you guys reason that baffles me. Do Nigerians earn in Dollars? So why comparing the school fees to dollars? Why bring it in the first place if not for your "suffering mentality" that is peculiar to most Nigerians.

If you want to keep the comparisons then why not compare the salary of doctors in US to that in Nigeria. Why not ask the fg to pay doctors in Nigeria $500k per year?

Ignorance coupled with witless pretense.
