Former military head of state, Late General Sani Abacha in an interview stressed the importance of power rotation among the 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria. According to him, power rotation will eliminate the issue of marginalization and exclusiveness in politics. He berated politicians who thrived on religious and ethnic sentiments. Late General Sani Abacha divided the country into six geo-political zones{North Central (NC), North East (NE), North West (NW), South West (SW), South East (SE) and South (SS)} with the aim of enhancing unity and political inclusiveness by proper rotation of power among the zones. Nonsense. He was head of state from 1994 up till 1998. He tried to become the civilian president, but the plan for him unfortunately failed. Maybe if he was the president, with his goons in position, he could have been in power for 30 years. After all he had practically silenced the opposition. How could he then have achieved power rotation, with his plan to hold on to power? 2 Likes |
