pls nairalanders i need ur advice. I just got a job wt one of the 'Big 4' professional services firms. I'm to resume in about a fortnight in d Tax department. Coming frm a science background i need advice on what i should have known b4 resumption so as 2 hit the ground running.

Read anything about tax in nigeria system i.e get a Text book on Tax .
Study about PAYE,VAT ,WITHOLDING TAX,Capital Allowance,
Company income tAX,Pioneer Legislation,Element Taxation such the various Bodies in charge and administration
system in Nigeria tax system especially concetrte on lagos state .
Every other things you will get use to it i.e experience you get day to day.Dont worry they will put you through because it is a proffessional Firm they have various expert.

how relevant is cfa to a career in tax? And apart frm ican/acca and citn, which other certification can push me further ahead?

Please,go for relevant certification in tax i.e CITN before thinking of other career so that you
can be an authority in your job i.e Tax pRACTICE.
