Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Labour Party (LP) on Wednesday said its presidential candidate, Peter Obi has become a household name in the Northern parts of the country.


Speaking with DAILY INDEPENDENT, the Chief Spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council (LP-PCC), Dr Yunusa Tanko said the turnout at events held for Obi in the North has been impressive.


He said "Peter Obi has become a household name in the North.Before now, the Northerners didn't take him seriously but now they are following him bumper to bumper. It's very rare to mention the name of Obi in the North now and anybody will say they don't know him".

"That is why the APC and PDP are ganging up against him because they know he is the man to beat"

"We did a programme in Kano recently and the turnout was impressive. I'm here in my local government, Kura Local Government Area to popularise the party and our presidential candidate and people are embracing him".

" We believe that election is won in the polling unit, especially at the grassroots level and that is why we are reaching out to the people in every nook and crannies of the country".

He is contesting against much more responsible, mature, more educated, younger, straightforward, uncontaminated, verifiable more modern, people's candidate.

There are far better candidates APC should have presented, but they want to continue in their failed style of leadership
