African basketball titans, Angola, overcame a determined Nigeria team in Madagascar on Saturday to move within one victory of another Olympic berth.

The Angolans have won every Afrobasket Championship since 1989, excluding 1997 when Senegal defeated them in the Semi-Finals. Angola trailed Nigeria early on but never lost their focus and hit back for a 76-68 win.

Captain Joaquin Gomes, who played at the Beijing Games for Angola and is itching to make a trip to London, spoke with immense pride that his national team had yet again made it to the Afrobasket championship game.
