Of course you'd know.

Which part of my comment showed that I didn't read it?

If I meet a Nigerian snake sorry girl with those attributes you enumerated which I highly doubt anyways, I'd damn the consequences and marry her despite the genotype nonsense. Give her belle and when it reach 3 months, go check the genotype of the baby. If it's SS, you keep aborting until you get at least one AS. But make sure it's a boy child.

If you can't harbour the thought of adoption
And you have no funds for IVF or for prenatal testing

Leave that girl ALONE.
Your love is worthless and can ruin her young life.
So many couples believed "my case is different" and some had all their children SS, 3, 4 of them.
Dump that useless situationship now.

I have been in a serious 5 years relationship with my girlfriend.
She is all I want in a woman, beautiful, intelligent, loyal and faithful. Am her first guy though and she is just 22. She is a Nurse.
I decided to take the relationship to the next level this year. I surprised her with an engagement party and put the ring on her finger. She was very happy.
I met her parents and started with the Introduction. They accepted my proposal and requested for a medical test to ascertain
our genetic compatibility before proceeding with the bride price payment.
I took her to a private medical laboratory for the test and the result said we are both AS.
It was a devastating experience for us but we decided to go for another round of test in two separate reputable hospitals to confirm the test result but the results were the same AS.
The parents decided the marriage will not continue while my girlfriend have been crying since then. It was a heartbreaking experience for me. Seeing my girlfriend cry is shattering my heart. I decided to call off the relationship but she has been pleading with me not to leave her.
Am just confused. Please your advice is needed.
What do I do in this situation considering the love and commitment we built for 5 years now.

idiot go and marry your fellow man.. wink wink

Both of you should visit a general hospital, visit the ward where sickle cell patience are taken care of, observe the difficulties they are in. Spend sometime and then ask yourselves if this is what you wish your children to look like . If yes go ahead.
You said it all
They should see the pain those kids go through and come back n tell us if they still want to get married for love smiley

There are expensive ways of having offspring that won't be SS. You can see a specialist

Having a sickle cell child should be a last thought in your mind, do you know the money you will spend on hospital bills, the emotional damage, the pains you would feel seeing your child screaming in pains asking you to save him|her.

Let her go! You both would get over the hurt and disappointment that came from the separation due to unmatched genotype.

If I were in a relationship with someone I really love for 5 years I honestly wouldn't be able to end it just because of genotype. Instead I would rather still get married but then we'll just agree not to have our own children but to adopt instead.
