You live in death if your religion thrives on keeping you in guilt, gloom and fear. Many of us who believe in God haven’t learned how to mix religion and intellectual inquiry. The [i]religion [/i]most of us settle for is the mind-narrowing type.

Beware of any "religion"/"spirituality" that is more eager to impose answers than encourage the asking of questions.

This, in my opinion, is a pathetic way to live, for that friend of yours. Knowledge can only enlighten. What you do with the knowledge is what matters in the end.

Tell your friend he is your friend and support him in his decisions.
