Most youths nowadays no fit write their names ..just to wear baggy clothes, dyed hair and dreadlocks..the females na to expose their private parts up and down for social media, their songs void of meaning just vulgar and dirty words and slangs...nothing positive. Back then..you really have to listen to the lyrics and decode their meaning. Mostly not about the beat but the message in the track. Youths of nowadays don turn everything upside down. The dance steps sef...like they are possessed or drugged...could go on and on but let me stop here. IT'S REALLY A SHAME. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

Fedrick100: Finally! Someone that understands how life works. It’s funny seeing people writing “you need a smart populace to sell rap” or “only smart people can understand the rap lyrics” and other BS like that. I wonder how smart the populace was when they were listening to 2short or bigLo or Ruggedman. Just like every other thing with life, it’s trend passed! Unfortunately the rapper refused to infuse afrobeat into their style and that’s why they are nowhere. We still have several rappers; this author is just misses his old timers. Imagine there's going to be a rap Olympics in the Bronx ( birthplace of Hip pop). Each country is asked to send a rep. Judges will be Rakim, Nas, Dre amd Krs one. Ghana will send Sarkodie. Kenya will send Khaligraph Jones. South Africa will send Nasty C. Who do you think Naija will send? Who do you think can represent us with rap on a global stage? 1 Like |

Winnin009: Broski, you no lie o. Those oldies fu(k we youths up o that we now have to work extremely hard to even get by, while they had almost everything on a platter of gold for them. I remember how some parents, especially mothers won’t allow their children to travel abroad then, even when it was almost free. Now, to japa no be small thing. As a Yorùbá boy, I get lot’s of respect for elders. But now, I no send them. Even when I see when I’m supposed to help them with moving heavy stuffs or giving up a sit for them, I do none; I just look away. After all they directly or indirectly empowered those that couldn’t help them secure their future. Just like some youths are currently doing. 1 Like |

Sulele04:Still needs a definition especially if it is not in English What kind of lyrics makes rap different from everything else Is it the CONTENT or something else. Nigerian music is dynamic and often fuses forms .I do not think it is possible to put it in one box. So called Afrobeat is mixing Fuji and Amapiano and whatever |

faceLAGOS: In summary; elder weh no act elderly no deserve respect! If no be your mama or your papa, they can go to hell! They ran our nation to the ground; never stood up to their government despite seeing things go from bad to worse.... suddenly it’s the fault of the new generation that the country is in shambles! JASONjnr:I disagree with you on the bolded part. Judging based on my childhood days, I believe Tupac and Biggie possibly sold more CDs in Africa than anywhere else, I'm just exaggerating though. What I'm trying to say is that hip hop was very popular in Nigeria until Warri boys entered it with their pidgeon English and killed it. 4 Likes |

Levinas: Is it because the judges have ten heads that I will accept to represent any country in such crap? You may ask,is he(Hell Victorinho) even a rapper? How many hits does he have? What has he achieved? Is he not seeking attention? For your information...,all I know is I have seen enough to say furk what I have seen! If I ever record and release anything and any bastard says I must beat some other rap musician to prove what I am saying,.....then ...... you know what? Such remains a bastard at least to me. Till I die Hell Victorinho. Spits on what I have seen. I will never do any interview as a rap musician unless I determine the questions to be asked ,where and when to be asked and how much I must be paid for answering the questions. Already,I know useless things are calling this childish or ignorant or irrelevant. Ultimately, furk what I have seen! |
